Sean Payton is not worried about Drew Brees’ knee

NFL: New Orleans Saints at Carolina Panthers Reuters

Anything that limited Drew Brees on Wednesday apparently wasn’t a big deal 24 hours later.

Saints coach Sean Payton said his quarterback was “fine,” and that there was no concerns about his condition for Sunday’s must-win game against the Buccaneers.

He had a right knee bruise,” Payton said, via Mike Triplett of ESPN.com There’s nothing more to it than that. And yet, we thought it was best we limited the amount of snaps he’s getting.

“We just felt like we had a day to do that.”

Brees showed no signs of being limited during the individual drills that were open to the media on Wednesday or Thursday. When asked if Brees was moving around fine on Thursday, Payton said, “Yeah, absolutely. You wouldn’t have noticed it.”

No one mentioned any problems Wednesday, so it was a bit of a surprise when Brees made his first appearance of the year on the injury report. He didn’t miss a snap last week, though he took a pretty solid beating over the course of a 17-13 loss to the Panthers which included six sacks.

If Drew Brees didn’t miss a snap against Carolina, what was he doing while Luke McCown was in the game? Playing tackle?

Sean Paytons never worried about anything. As long as his drug dealer Joe Vitt is on the staff, the head coach is a happy man.

Brees will be better than ready to go. If the saints beat the bucs and get into the playoffs I’m going with them as my dark horse team.

Only because they have not played good lately and I think most everyone has written them off now as being done.

Stevemo – McCown was in the game as the holder on a fake punt. That is why he has an attempted pass. Brees was in for every snap when the offense was on the field.
