Cowboys expect Tony Romo will be ready for OTAs

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo had back surgery on Friday morning, ending his season and leaving Kyle Orton to lead the offense in their NFC East title showdown with the Eagles on Sunday night.

With Romo done for however long the Cowboys play this season, owner Jerry Jones was asked if he’ll be ready for offseason work during an appearance on KRLD on Friday. Jones said he expected Romo, who missed the offseason program this year because of surgery on a cyst on his back, to be ready to go when the Cowboys get back to work.

“My expectation is that one of the pluses for having had it done as early as this morning is that it would really contribute to him being able to get right there when it comes time for the team to be in OTAs and do the preparation, the beginning of the preparation for next year,” Jones said, via Charean Williams of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “The OTAs are what we call the equivalent of our spring practice. So we would anticipate him being right on time there and expect it and we’ll see how it goes.”

That’s too late to help the Cowboys this year and the team could look considerably different by the time that work begins, but it doesn’t sound like there will be the same kind of uncertainty about Romo’s status as we experienced the last few days.

What’s the over/under on Romo throwing an interception on Sunday from his hospital bed?

Well let’s hope he comes back so he can continue to choke and keep his team out of the playoffs

Percy Harvin was ready for OTAs this year.

We all know how his season turned out…

Such a tired joke. Romo has thrown 10 interceptions this year… the same number as Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, and Philip Rivers. He’s thrown less interceptions than guys like Brees, Roethlisberger, Ryan, Flacco, Palmer, and Eli Manning. In fact, there are very few starting QBs that have thrown less interceptions than Romo this year.

Nick Foles threw 25 TDs and 2 INTs in 9 games…there’s only one other QB ever in NFL history to throw for 25+ TDs and less than 5 INTs in a season. He goes by Thomas Edward Patrick Brady.

I pick Foles over Romo today, tomorrow, next week, this time next year, any day BRO!

“the team could look considerably different by …” Yes the new logo will be Jerrahs face, both on their helmets and on the field. Jerrah and his kid will spend more time on the sidelines assisting the coaches in calling plays during games.

What I hate is that this surgery becomes “convenient”.

We only lost cuz Romo was out. How convenient.

Jason Garrett keeps his job cuz Romo was out. How convenient.

They just traded Romo to channel 6.

Let’s get this straight – If you’re not from Texas or Dallas then you’re not a Cowboys fan.

All these band-wagon fans from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland claiming their ‘diehard’ Dallas fans. They all hide under rocks thru these rough times. Everyone knows you’re associated with the area you live in or are from, regardless of what jibberish comes out of your mouth on Sundays.

Let it hurt deep this weekend Cowboy band-wagoners…were going to rub your face in it.

I’m from south jersey and there is a big old Dallas cowboys flag in my front yard all year long. The beagle will never win a super bowl because the fans suck.
