Mikel Leshoure wants to play somewhere they’ll feed him the rock

Running back Mikel Leshoure has gone from second-round pick to total afterthought with the Lions.

He’s played just three games this season as Reggie Bush, Joique Bell and Theo Riddick have handled the rushing duties for Detroit over the course of the season. Leshoure said Thursday that he doesn’t know what the future holds for him in Detroit, but he knows that he wants to play for a team that’s willing to let him play.

“I just want to be somewhere they’re going to feed me the rock and I can go eat, man,” Leshoure said, via the Detroit Free Press. “That’s it. They could be the worst team in the NFL. … Just give me the rock. I feel like I just need the ball. Even here, we don’t really run the ball here.”

Leshoure’s chances of returning to the Lions are likely entwined with the decision the Lions make about coach Jim Schwartz. If Schwartz and offensive coordinator Scott Linehan should return, Leshoure’s not going to be in the team’s offensive plans. Those returns feel unlikely, though, so Leshoure may get a chance to eat in Detroit once 2014 rolls around.

And the Lions wanted someone that was healthy, didn’t smoke weed 24/7 and could actually run the ball…

Keep your mouth shut and your powder dry.

Better find a fit soon. Careers end faster than they take off in this league. Go to Houston and share carries with Ben Tate.

    Miami, Arizona, Cleveland

Sounds like Mikel has the munchies. Perhaps if he layed off the weed a little bit he might get more opportunities?

He runs like he’s got a gut full of rocks.

This really frustrated me this year; I can’t understand why they didn’t deal him at the trade deadline (maybe to cleveland) as Bell had proven he wasn’t a fluke and Riddick had proven he was more than adequate for a #3. Now LeShoure is worth roughly the same as my neighbor the landscaper…he’s a good landscaper, mind you.

Look up the word “plodding” in the dictionary, and you’ll see a picture of Mikel LeShoure.

Titus Young feels the same way.

They should feed him something! It’s Christmas.

The problem is that Mikel Leshoure won’t get anyone to feed him the rock because he sucks.

  12. egomaniac247 says: Dec 27, 2013 10:41 AM

He must have a poor attitude or something because he really wasn’t that bad when he subbed in for Reggie Bush in the 2012 season.

    Is Schwartz fired yet?.

  14. lionhunter909 says: Dec 27, 2013 10:46 AM

Just get rid of Schwartz, Linehan, and Gunther……please…..then maybe Leshoure can be swapped for a 5th or 6th rounder…..

    HE GOT THE MUNCHIES

I’m with Mikel here. I’m not sure Scwartz used any RB right. Bush fumbles and gets benched. Bell fumbles and Riddick plays. Lions lose. Yeah that worked well.

If you want to play, you should’ve thought about that before you decided to burn the marijuana. Idiots typically don’t get second chances…

Joique Bell is an RFA according to Rotoworld. He’s shown he’s a real player and a good fit with the Lions. What happens to Bell will affect what happens with Leshoure. Leshoure is an ok RB but he’s shown he’s probably just a committee guy. Bell could be a starter on a lot of teams.

So Mikel wants a team to buy and spoon feed him the drugs? Dude, you got a problem…

Willing to play for the worst team in the NFL?
Hey, my Browns need a running back. Watch what you wish for.

I thought Leshoure would do well and become the featured back for the Lions. Still think the guy runs North and South really well. But they’ve got Bush and the local kid Bell so I think he’s history. Needs a fresh start somewhere else… without that big contract.

  22. lennydpocketqb says: Dec 27, 2013 12:18 PM

All those talented RB’s and they couldn’t wrap up the division. Sad.

  23. irishpatsredsox says: Dec 27, 2013 5:38 PM

Like Leshoure as a RB, he adds a good change of pace. “Plodders” can prove people wrong if they fit in the right system. Lagarrette Blount anyone?

  24. lingsun54 says: Dec 27, 2013 9:10 PM

    Reggie Bush 1447 combined yards.
    Joique Bell 1141 combined yards.

If Bush has 27 yards receiving on Sunday it will be the first time in NFL history that a team had two running backs with at least 500 yards rushing and 500 yards receiving.

“If Bush has 27 yards receiving on Sunday it will be the first time in NFL history that a team had two running backs with at least 500 yards rushing and 500 yards receiving.”

And yet they still managed to lose 5 of 6 and miss the playoffs. Same old Lions!
