Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning’s selection to this season’s Pro Bowl makes for the 13th of his NFL career, putting him in elite company.

According to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Manning joins Jerry Rice and Reggie White with 13 Pro Bowl selections. Only Bruce Mathews and Merlin Olsen, with 14 Pro Bowl selections each, have more.

The 37-year-old Manning probably doesn’t have too many seasons left in him. But he may have a couple years left, which means he has a real chance to become the first player in NFL history to be selected to 15 Pro Bowls.

Other 2014 Pro Bowlers who have now been chosen to more than five Pro Bowls in their careers are Patriots quarterback Tom Brady (9), Saints quarterback Drew Brees (8), Steelers safety Troy Polamalu (8), 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis (7), Texans receiver Andre Johnson (7), Browns offensive tackle Joe Thomas (7), Eagles offensive tackle Jason Peters (6), Vikings running back Adrian Peterson (6), Patriots guard Logan Mankins (6) and Ravens outside linebacker Terrell Suggs (6).

Polamalu is better than your team’s safety.

    Big Whoop.

Until the man has more rings than Joe Flacco, he remains his equal in everything — except possibly pizza commercials (although Joe will get there with time).

Congrats Peyton but I rather see Jerry Rice go 10 rounds with Dejon Sanders and shut his big mouth up once and for all.

Haha. Someone just compared Manning to Joe Flacco. I guess this comment thread is over now. It’s like the new Godwin’s Law.

  13. meatcarroll says: Dec 28, 2013 10:11 AM

I lost respect for Peyton after his and Polian’s whining led to the eradication of pass defense and resulted in all these obscene passing stats of today.

Best regular season QB, except for Dan Marino.

Why doesn’t the NFL change the Pro Bowl from a game, to a skills test, or at least something more watchable?

  17. lks311 says: Dec 28, 2013 10:48 AM

First, who even watches the Pro Bowl?

Second, the position of OLB is so specialized that you have to have 3-4 and 4-3 designations. Tamba Hali and Justin Houston would be just average in the 4-3, same for LaVonte David and DeAndre Levy in the 3-4. But, in their respective schemes all 4 played at an All Pro level. Not Pro Bowl, mind you, ALL PRO. So, to leave the latter two of the team just seems dumb.

That said, if the game went away tomorrow, I wouldn’t miss it.

So Brady fluffers are you more mad that Peyton has won more Super Bowls in the last 10 years, you know since the Patriots were caught cheating or because Manning just took away Brady”s only record of significance?

Peyton 9-11 in the postseason. Not being a hater, just stating facts. Sorry that stings so bad.

  24. jacktheraven says: Dec 28, 2013 1:39 PM

Joe Flacco – 9-4 in the Postseason. That’s after only his first 5 years.

  25. jacktheraven says: Dec 28, 2013 1:41 PM

I think Ray Lewis was selected to 13 pro bowls, but history says he only has 12.

  26. surfinbird1 says: Dec 28, 2013 1:45 PM

Yeah, and lets not forget all harsh weather conditions he played under with the Colts. I think they call it arena football.

  27. mimitaroo says: Dec 28, 2013 1:54 PM

This is one record Manning will always have over Brady because Brady makes too many super bowl appearances to be worried about this “pro bowl”.

  28. ravensdominate says: Dec 28, 2013 2:10 PM

Ray Lewis was a 13 time pro bowler as well

  29. Nofoolnodrool says: Dec 28, 2013 3:05 PM

    Ray who?

  30. sogooda says: Dec 28, 2013 7:13 PM

Says a lot about Brady that he’s made it to the Pro Bowl with the cast of characters he has around him.

  31. fnf417 says: Dec 28, 2013 8:18 PM

I’m seeing a loss in the AFC Championship for Manning this year but I guess I could be wrong
