Kendall Langford ejected, Seahawks extend lead

At halftime, we mentioned that it had been a testy game between the Seahawks and Rams and things haven’t calmed down much in the third quarter.

Fortunately for the Seahawks, the Rams have been guilty of losing their cool more often. Defensive tackle Kendall Langford was ejected from the game with 3:10 to play in the third quarter for making contact with an official. Langford was arguing a personal foul called on linebacker Alec Ogletree with one official and gestured with his right hand right into the head of another official.

The two penalties helped push the Seahawks to the one-yard line and Marshawn Lynch pushed the ball into the end zone to extend the Seahawks’ lead to 20-3.

The Rams have been penalized six times overall, including a taunting call on linebacker James Laurinaitis that helped set up a Seahawks field goal in the first half of the game. The Seahawks have been flagged seven times, but none of their infractions have been nearly as damaging to the cause.

UPDATE 6:50 p.m. ET: The Rams picked up two more unsportsmanlike penalties on the ensuing kickoff, pushing them back near their end zone for a three and out that gave the ball right back to the Seahawks.

  1. I blame the refs for letting it get out of control. They better hope a player isn’t hurt on a cheap shot knocking someone out for the year.

  2. The Seahawks are going to lose their first playoff game. They are not playing well at all, and there are no bottom feeding teams to get by against in the playoffs while their offense gets back on track. Teams have finally figured out to keep Wilson in the pocket instead of letting him improvise, and it’s working.

  3. Sloppy game, but man it’s a slugfest. If you didn’t know better you would think it was a playoff game.

  4. This is another example of how bad the refs in the nfl has become. I’m not a Seattle fan or a rams fan but had they made the proper call when lynch ramed t. Johnson with his helmet and then stiff armed him in a helmet less face, none of the ensuing penalties would have happened on the rams. The refs are letting the crowd affect their decisions.

  5. Shouldn’t have been ejected. The ref ran up behind him, he didn’t know he was there. But the Rams have let their emotions get the best of them, they’re out of control. Verbal abuse of an official? And the guy they called it on wasn’t even playing. And if that’s a real penalty, how is Jim Harbaugh not called on it multiple times per game?

  6. Jeff Triplette should have been fired weeks ago in Cincinnati, he completely lost control of this game.

He must be related to somebody high up in the league to still have a job.

  7. I have never seen such incompetent officiating in a game of any sport. If you throw the flag there should of been a reason. The refs actually huddled up on numerous occasions to figure out what they should call. Just throw a flag on the Rams then figure out what to call. Unreal…

  8. The Rams suck. I’m not saying that they suck because they suck. I’m just saying they suck because they didn’t beat the Seahawks and make their super sucking troll fans eat some and they suck because they didn’t win and give the Niners the Division. I mean really Rams you couldn’t throw your old Niner buddies a bone? :p You suck. While I’m on a rant wouldn’t it make more sense to have Oakland in the the NFC West instead of the Rams? Can you imagine the blood that would be spilled in the stands twice a year?
