Marcell Dareus out for first half for violating team rules

The Bills defensive line has wreaked some havoc on opposing offenses this season, but they’ll be down one member of their corps as they try to play spoiler against the Patriots.

The team announced that defensive tackle Marcell Dareus will sit out the entire first half of the game as punishment for a violation of team rules. There’s no word about the specific nature of the violation, but it isn’t the first time this has happened this season.

Or this month. Dareus also sat out the first quarter of last week’s victory over the Dolphins for the same reason. He’ll either clean things up over the offseason or we’ll see him in the fourth quarter of the 2014 season opener.

The Patriots drove for a field goal to open the game, converting a key third down when wide receiver Julian Edelman fell on a fumble by running back Shane Vereen on the right side of the first down marker.

  1. Come on Marcell!… Man get it together, you have far too much talent and get paid way too much to be benched over BS….

  2. Dareus is a bust? He won fan voting for his position at the pro-bowl. He leads DT’s in tackles this year. He’s one of the best DT’s in the league…and it’s due to him that 3 Bills d-linemen have double-digit sacks this year. He is far from a bust…much better than Nick Fairley.

    149Tackles, 18.5Sacks, 1ff, 2fr, 11pd, 7sfl, 1bk in 3 seasons. He is having his best season yet since getting Pettine as his D coordinator, where he is finally being used the right way. Dareus’ job before Pettine was to eat up space during the Gailey years, so again how is he a bust?

  4. If the Bills were playing next week, he’d be benched for conduct detrimental with that stupid offsides penalty!
