Redskins deny 10 a.m. press conference report

At this point, every expectation is that the Redskins will fire coach Mike Shanahan, and soon.

The timing is still a matter of debate.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the team was planning a press conference for “around 10 a.m. tomorrow,” presumably to announce the change.

Of course, Redskins PR executive Tony Wylie has since tweeted that there is no press conference scheduled for 10 a.m.

That doesn’t mean there won’t be one, or that it won’t be in the general range of mid-morning.

But the meeting between Shanahan and owner Daniel Snyder is being described as “perfunctory,” so the timing is largely inconsequential.

“That’s an outrageously false story!!” (Translation: we won’t have his building badge deactivated and parking space repainted until at least 10:30).

It’s scheduled for 10:01 a.m. And everybody is planning to arrive 1 minute early.

The Redskins aspire to become as well run as the Browns.

Dude, did you steal my name? Oh well, hopefully you are a huge Redskins fan too. HTTR!

Shanahan needs to lay off the tanning. He looked like my mom’s purse at the beginning of the season.

Honestly how are the Redskins better then the Browns as a franchise? I see the same stuff except no one knows the Browns owner’s name.

Yes, I am a lifelong Skins fan, jbcommonsense. I am sick of losing and I gave Shanahan a chance but he’s totally failed. Ready to hopefully see a mn upcoming coordinator get a shot at righting the ship.

The press conference is probably scheduled for 9am.

As a Cowboys fan who just completed the divisional trifecta of losses in play-in games, I hope Dan Snyder is every bit as mired in mediocrity as Jerry Jones has been for the last 17 years. Happy New Year!

  21. eatitfanboy says: Dec 30, 2013 12:07 AM

Please don’t hold the press conference @ 10. Please wait until 12pm so that it doesn’t preempt the Tony Kornheiser show.

After his Josh Freeman-like performances the last 2 weeks, I hope never again to hear Cousins should be starting. In DC or anywhere else for that matter.

  23. getyourownname says: Dec 30, 2013 12:29 AM

Isn’t this denial coming from the same person who denied he tried to stifle a radio parody of the Skins because he did not understand what a parody was?

  24. therealzeitgeist says: Dec 30, 2013 12:53 AM

The Browns achieve the same ineptitude as the Redskins, but for pennies on the dollar.

Think about it. Chud gets canned when he didn’t deserve it, and that’s that.

Shanahan deserved to get fired, but he gets $7 million bucks…for getting fired?

Oh yeah, the Redskins play in D.C. So it kind of is a government operation. Now it all makes sense.

  25. logicalvoiceseys says: Dec 30, 2013 1:52 AM

Too bad Daniel Snyder and Jerry Jones can’t fire themselves, because they both should.

  26. oldschoolnflman says: Dec 30, 2013 3:09 AM

Change the logo to a potato, keep the name redskins. I know what you are thinking, what does DC have to do with potatoes? Well answer this question first… What the hell does Utah have to do with Jazz? Has there been fossil evidence of raptors in Toronto? How many giant skeletons have been found in NYC? How many people actually raid in Oakland? You know what, forget the last question.

  27. eagleseagleseagles says: Dec 30, 2013 5:13 AM

Wow. This is a huge mess. At least they have their 2nd overall pick to draft a guy to fix some of the issues in the secondary, the offensive line or maybe even a receiver……….but wait, it was given away to the Rams for a Michael Vick 2.0.

I do hope Rg3 comes back healthy and dominates again next year!

  28. timbuttrum says: Dec 30, 2013 7:11 AM

Leak his firing to Adam Schefter and then do nothing for a few days…..

  29. Dougy Fresh says: Dec 30, 2013 7:15 AM

They need to fire the whole team

  30. annes22 says: Dec 30, 2013 7:20 AM

We are all sick of losing at the Dolphins too. Happy Monday to all who have to “pack up”. There is only one reason and that’s because the team sucked. You get what you deserve, so move on. Fans pay a lot of money to watch their team fail again, it’s just not
right. RG111 has been awful this year, and I am sure Shanahan had a lot to do with that.
