Jim Harbaugh loses first assistant coach in time with 49ers

The 49ers are going to lose a “trusted agent,” one of Jim Harbaugh’s long-time assistants.

But it’s not one of his coordinators leaving for a head coaching gig, at least not yet.

According to Matt Maiocco of, assistant offensive line coach Tim Drevno will leave the team after the season to take a job at Southern Cal.

Drevno works alongside 49ers line coach Mike Solari, and has worked with Harbaugh since 2004 at the University of San Diego, and followed him to Stanford and then the 49ers.

“It is with great emotion, pride and excitement that we wish Tim Drevno continued success in his professional journey at The University of Southern California,” Harbaugh said in a statement. “Coach Drevno and I have partnered for the last decade at The University of San Diego, Stanford University and the San Francisco 49ers. Tim has been a trusted agent, outstanding football coach and known friend every step of the way. . . .

“We wish them happiness in their new venture and I am confident the entire Drevno family will attack this endeavor with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind.”

Drevno is the first 49ers assistant to leave since Harbaugh took over. I’m selfishly hoping there are more, if only because Harbaugh gives great statements when they do.

Can you take Greg Roman too? Dude is a horrible play caller. 3rd and 7 and its a hand off to Gore for 2 yards while Kaep is in the pistol. The offense is predictable. They have weapons, use them or its going to be a short playoff run.

    “Assistant Offensive Line Coach”?
After all these years, that’s the highest job on the coaching staff Harbaugh will give him?

It sounds like little Tommy has a small ego and must attack others to make himself feel important.

Who cares about NFC West championships???

Super Bowl rings talk volumes, not division championships. It’s nice to say “division champion” but most folks forget that the next year. I look forward to seeing our 49er friends in GB this weekend.
Wear warm clothing folks, it’s gonna be cold, real cold !!
We have “Tommys” here too, mostly Vikings fans who talk smack. Hell, they can’t even back it up. lol

Seattle is looking more and more like a one-and-done team, like the 95 Chiefs or the 08 Titans. All signs point toward a Seattle loss in the d-round.

Could you point out those signs please? Saying it doesn’t make it so.

Greg Roman is the only person that can keep Niners from going to the Super Bowl. He was amazing at play calling against Cardinals in 1st quarter before they made in game adjustments. Then he looked lost. As any other game. This isn’t last year anymore, people are ready for Kap, he needs to mix it up more or something sheesh. It’s like he uses an index card to call plays. Open up more.
