The Saints took a huge chance putting an untested rookie at left tackle with two games left in the regular season.
But while Terron Armstead bounced back from a nightmare debut against Greg Hardy and the Panthers, that performance put him on the radar of Eagles outside linebacker Trent Cole.
“He’s very athletic, but he’s got some weak spots,” Cole said, via Terrance Harris, of the New Orleans Times-Picayune. “That’s the thing, man, going into the game you take advantage of them. I see they helped him out with a bunch of chips and stuff, and it’s helped out.
“But it’s a challenge for him, and it’s a challenge for me. Every game is different, every player is different.”
Asked if he expected the Saints to provide help for Armstead, Cole replied: “They’d better.”
Armstead played better in his second start in relief of Charles Brown, but he was also faced with less of a challenge.
Cole is an upgrade over what the Buccaneers threw at him last week, and Armstead better be ready for the Eagles to throw multiple looks at him as the Panthers did, in an effort to confuse.
