The Chiefs’ offense is rolling in Indianapolis.
Donnie Avery’s 79-yard TD reception from Alex Smith has given the Colts a 17-7 early second-quarter lead in Saturday’s wild-card meeting.
Smith has completed 7-of-13 passes for 176 yards and a pair of scores in just three drives.
The Chiefs are currently playing without tailback Jamaal Charles, who is being tested for a concussion. His return to the lineup has been termed questionable by the Chiefs.
The Chiefs scored first on Saturday, with Dwayne Bowe hauling in a six-yard touchdown from Alex Smith on Kansas City’s first drive.
Then, the Chiefs struck again, with Ryan Succop’s 19-yard field goal giving Kansas City the 10-7 edge late in the first quarter. The field goal was set up by Dwayne Bowe’s 63-yard reception.
Then, after a Colts’ punt, the Chiefs’ offense came up with an even bigger play to give their team a two-score lead.
