Chiefs add field goal, grab 44-38 fourth-quarter edge

With the Colts right on their tails, the Chiefs gave themselves a little more fourth-quarter breathing room.

Ryan Succop’s 43-yard field goal gave the Chiefs a 44-38 lead with less than six minutes left in regulation. The field goal ended an 11-play drive that took 5:02 off the clock.

Indianapolis, which trailed by 28 points two minutes into the third quarter, had cut Kansas City’s lead to 41-38 on a fortunate bounce early in the fourth quarter. Tailback Donald Brown fumbled near the Chiefs’ goal line, but the ball bounced off center Samson Satele’s head and into the hands of quarterback Andrew Luck, who took it in for a five-yard touchdown.

Another amazing game and comeback to add to many we have seen around the league this season.

The NFL continues to distance themselves as by far the best product in person or on television in the WORLD.

This is basically the Eagles in the playoffs in a nutshell. Offense does good, defense not so good however there is a new chapter to the book. Injuries! Football gods do not want the Chiefs to win anything. I’ve never seen a team lose so many players in one game.

Man this is ridiculous. Also if they lose Bob Sutton pretty much choked the game away with his second half play calling. He played soft schemes which NEVER works.

This game is the same as the KC season. They started hot but faded bad after the halfway mark.

AAaaaand the Andy Reid clock management finally rears its ugly head!

  29. realitycheckbaby says: Jan 4, 2014 8:01 PM

What else can the refs do?????

    Wow.

Sorry Chiefs. League wants more Luck.

NFL has become as bad as the NBA.

  31. mikenfceast says: Jan 4, 2014 8:05 PM

It turns out it doesn’t matter what you do, you have Andy Reid to blow the time management of the clock and waste times out.. Thus you let the Colts kneel down in victory formation 3 times to end the game. Andy Reid.. SMH

  32. kingpel says: Jan 4, 2014 8:06 PM

That last timeout wasted was just painful.

    ………………….
What did the refs do wrong? There were no bad calls. The KC defense just outright sucked.

  34. dgt178 says: Jan 4, 2014 8:13 PM

    ….wow….kudos to indy…..that was one hell of a comeback….

  35. mikenfceast says: Jan 4, 2014 8:18 PM

I have seen games change hands a couple of times with that much time left. Andy Reid Really needs to work on clock managment and how to not waste time out.. If the Chiefs had 3 timeouts left, they don’t need to try for 4th and 11. They punt inside the 5.
Its a hell of a lot better than putting the win/loss on one play of 4th and 11.
