Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was unhappy with his own performance in Sunday’s loss to the 49ers.
“Frustrating way to end the season,” Rodgers said, via the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “I think a lot of us felt with the way things had gone the last four or five weeks that there was something special about this year, and everything might be aligning right for us to make a run. So, I’m very disappointed. Personally, it’s frustrating not to play your best game. Tough conditions, but the defense held them to 23 points. We should win that game.”
Rodgers completed 17 of 26 passes for 177 yards, with a touchdown and no interceptions. Those aren’t bad numbers, but they’re not the numbers that we’ve all come to expect from Rodgers. Green Bay’s offense had two long touchdown drives, but it also had five drives that yielded less than 10 yards and ended with a punt.
“It’s frustrating,” Rodgers said. “I think you have to start with yourself, and I could have definitely made a few more plays. That’s why it’s disappointing. These opportunities are pretty special, and you’ve got to make the most of them. It’s been nine years for me now. [I’ve been] blessed to play that long and would love to play another nine if possible. But this is an opportunity we let slip through our fingers.”
Now Rodgers will have to wait until next year for another opportunity.
