Buccaneers hire Joe Cullen to coach defensive line

By all indications, Joe Cullen has his life in order, and isn’t going through the Wendy’s drive-through while naked anymore.

But at least at his new job, he can get away with wearing shorts most of the year.

According to Alex Marvez of FOX Sports, the former Browns line coach has been hired as the Buccaneers’ new defensive line coach by Lovie Smith.

With Cullen on board, and Leslie Frazier reportedly secured as defensive coordinator, it should kill the speculation about Smith trying to get defensive line coach Rod Marinelli away from the Cowboys.

Cullen is best remembered by most for his embarrassing arrest. But after going through treatment for alcohol abuse, he is trying to use his platform to help players who run into trouble of their own.

Coupled with a solid reputation as a coach, it’s a good hire for Smith, who is moving quickly to fill his staff.

Joe got couldn’t remember if he was supposed to be at his self help seminar or his alchohol abuse appointment, so he compromised with self abuse and takeout.

I guess there is a good market for yelling and screaming coaches who produce zero results. He was brought in by the Jags to help get a pass rush going and had zero impact. Zero.

Lovie is setting a record hiring coaches not wanted any where else. I guess this is all of the coaches last dance. Super Bowl within 4 or bust.

Why are we hiring all NFC North coaches from different non-playoff teams?

Joe Cullen is an ok coach. He couldn’t get it done in jags. Can’t blame him for the talent or lack of in the Jags roster. He screams and yells players in the practice.

And subway gets lot of offer to open two more franchise in the Tampa area….

Well regardless of our various allegiances and rival factions, we can all surely agree on one thing. He’s no Bill Johnson (whodats dline coach).

Mr Cullen coached at LSU during our darkest years. Not sure what his ‘drive thru policy’ was during those days.

I’m curious what his answer was to the Wendy’s drive thru attendant that asked if he’d “like his meal Biggie sized”?

Face it, it’s only his job until Rob Meranelli walks out on the Cowboys if they fire Kiffin. Lovie would scoop him up faster than you could say Meramelli if that were to happen.
