The Eagles signed seven players to reserve/future contracts on Monday, including first-year quarterback G.J. Kinne.

Kinne, 25, was with the Eagles through the 2013 preseason. The Eagles waived him on August 30, then re-signed him to their practice squad on October 22.

Kinne could compete for the third spot on the depth chart. His chances would be enhanced if the Eagles do not re-sign Michael Vick or draft a quarterback.

The Eagles also signed linebacker Emmanuel Acho, defensive end Brandon Bair, offensive tackle Michael Bamiro, wide receiver B.J. Cunningham, tight end Emil Igwenagu and linebacker Travis Long to reserve/future deals.

    Whatever happened to Barkley?

Eagles and Steelers are the pioneers in doing this. Future contracts and effective cap management. There is an old saying “if you take care of the future, the future will take care of the current”.

Barkley was on the active roster so he’s signed to a multi year rookie deal. Reserve/Future contracts are for practice squad guys and street FAs.

Acho will be a beast in a couple of years.

What is Barkley a ghost? New trade bait? What?

Bamiro will be the prize from that group.

Ok good, now I will be able to sleep at night. I was very worried that we were not going to sign these guys. In fact, we probably don’t even need a Safety or Outside linebacker anymore

I don’t understand the questions about Barkley.

Vick will be a free agent. The Eagles have three quarterbacks: Foles, Barkley, and Kinne.

The Eagle had five quarterbacks going into training camp: Vick, Foles, Barkley, Dixon, and Kinne.

Nothing flashy but good solid young depth players with some upside. Acho especially and Igwenagu is a really versatile, hard worker.

…also Bamiros potenial is unkown but could be through the roof. Tra Thomas has taken him under his wing as a special project.
