Percy Harvin says he’s “absolutely” playing this week

Percy Harvin AP

The Seahawks have gotten pretty far without him, but it appears they’re going to get a boost at wide receiver this week with Percy Harvin returning.

According to Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post, Harvin just replied “absolutely” when asked if he planned to play this week against the Saints, indicating no setbacks with his surgically repaired hip.

All week, the signs have pointed in a positive direction for Harvin to return to play in the Divisional Round, after minimal work in the regular season.

“This team is set,” Harvin said. “I’m just looking forward to jumping on the bus and enjoying the ride.”

Harvin played in one game, catching one pass for 17 yards against the Vikings in November.

But if he can even provide a decoy for the Seahawks, that’s an advantage for a team that earned the top seed in the NFC playoffs without their biggest offseason acquisition.

If the Seahawks lose the football game this weekend, does the 12th man automatically advance to the conference championships?

He’ll definitely be more than a decoy. I expect his presence will open things up across the board but I also expect to see him targeted multiple times.

I bet you wish you would have drafted Cordarelle Patterson & saved 11$ dollars a year on a player who doesn’t even see the field.

The Vikings are “Absolutely” better than the Seahawks.

Big fan of this guy. But when the Seahawks started him the week before the bye it was mind-boggling. What a bad management decision. I’m guessing Harvin talked them into it because he was going up against his old team in the Vikings. Either way, I guess they have him back for crunch time. However, he may have been able to shed some rust and stay healthy if they had waited until Week 13 to start him.

Decoy will get 8 targets; 5 catches for 123YDs and a TD. Lynch gets 110 YDS and 2 TDs. Wilson throws for 250 YDS and 2 TDs. Seahawks win 31-21.

No one will be talking about the Seahawks this time next week…except maybe that they were regular season champions.

With no game tape to game plan, the Saints must feel a little unsure….Maybe some depends will help.

He’ll get hurt and be out before halftime.
He’s going to miss the rest of the postseason, so will the rest of his team

To the 2 guys who said the Vikings are better than the Seahawks, especially the guy who said they were the best in the NFL, you might want to have your heads examined or start watching a new sport.

Oh you silly poet, if you are going to try and rip the Seahawks at least do it right. First of all it is 11 million. Secondly the dollar sign implies dollars so it is not needed.
And the PED thing is seriously over done. The least you can do is come up with something new and original.

Saying you ‘expect’ to play and actually playing are two different things. I’d say he is more likely not to play and they are just using this to give the Saints one more thing that they have to game plan for.

That being said, I would like to see him play. He is a local guy and someone that I have been a fan of.

I know you say stuff to get a rise out and laugh, but at least be accurate. The Queens picked Rhodes with the pick the got from the Hawks. Rhodes, if he wasnt on practice squad for the hawks would be nothing more than a special teams player. Oh and its only 9 million, and we were still under the cap, 13-3 and 1 seed…

  22. angelogiaquinto18 says: Jan 9, 2014 5:02 PM

Averaging 1 receiving yard a game! Pretty much worth that contract!

  23. crapsandviche says: Jan 9, 2014 5:08 PM

There’s a tough decision for the Hawks here, If they win the Super Bowl with Harvin….he’ll never play another down for the Seahawks…until his contract is about to come up. Now if they lose, he’ll sit out next year until the Hawks make the playoffs again…. BOOK IT.

  24. shaggytoodle says: Jan 9, 2014 5:12 PM

More evidence of a guy that plays, when he wants to play….

I enjoy watching Wilson play a lot since his college days, but between Harvin, Sherman and Carroll they are making it REALLY hard for me to hope they do well.

  25. whatjusthapped says: Jan 9, 2014 5:21 PM

I thought, there is no way he is playing this week and then I remembered that he is no longer a Viking.

So you are saying that Seattle misses four extra point attempts?? Not Likely.

Poor Saints, I bet their players are peeing all over themselves thinking about playing the Hawks again!

Yeahhh I thought it sucked too. Sorry.

    Welcome back Percy. Go Hawks.

    dude is a phenom.

  29. johnnyprc says: Jan 9, 2014 5:28 PM

I can understand why Harvin is a bit un-liked, and I am a Seahawks fan. Most people cheer for the untalented player that has tons of heart and does well because of pure grit…

not the guy who has tons of talent and seemingly zero heart and acts like a bowl in China shop focused on collecting his millions upon millions.

Sounds like a lot of people are pretty nervous. Opponent’s fans have been dreading that this might be coming and have been hoping the rumors were unsubstantiated and untrue. It’s ok. I’d be sad, too.

Any of you had surgery, then came back a bit early and had swelling or fluid build up thus making you slow down a bit on your “athletic” hobby? I have. So, he had surgery, which was said to have a “4-8 month recovery time” he came back at 4 months, because he was cleared and felt great. He played, then had swelling and fluid build up, so he stopped, and went back to rehab. Now, he has went 100% in practice for 2 weeks straight and has had zero swelling or fluid buildup, so he is a full go. Get off his jock, he had migraines, yep, they were diagnosed, and he had meds, have any of you had them? You wouldn’t leave your bed, let alone play a full contact sport. Then the hawks damn near broke him in half last year, injuring him, like a lot of players. I have heard over and over from coaches and ex teamates (Adrian Peterson one of them) that he is the most competitive guy they have ever met. Why would they all lie? He is small and small guys often get hurt more than bigger guys. Beastmode out.

  39. blazenhawks says: Jan 9, 2014 7:30 PM

Look Harvin is a specile talent like Jamal Charles when he touches the ball he can’t take the game over. Yes he has had injures in the past funny thing he only missed 2 games upto last year funny how much he is injury prone things like this happen.

Now to the game its not going to be easy at all for the Seahawks. The saints will be better I have no doubt. I predict this game going to the seahawks but on a last second FG final score will be

    Seahawks 27
    Saints 24

  40. mediasloppy says: Jan 9, 2014 8:49 PM

I wonder if anyone is going to be going after his hip when the ball is in his hands.

I’m going to be interested in his sideline demeanor.

  41. kkalama1 says: Jan 9, 2014 9:11 PM

It’s funny that all you haters commenting back and fourth with “Percy this or Percy that”…. come game time, the seahawks will absolutely demolish the saints

  42. punksinplay says: Jan 9, 2014 9:38 PM

Yeah ‘cause the Seahawks really missed him.

  43. its12oclock says: Jan 9, 2014 10:42 PM

I’m not saying this game is going to be a route, but why is there so much optimism from saints fan (or seahawk haters ). What has happened over the course of the last 4 weeks that leads anyone to believe NO will keep it close or even win. It’s the exact same seahawks team minus KJ Wright, but with thurmond and percy. I know KJ is good and all, but it was 34-7 last time people, and this isn’t seattle ‘ s first trip to the playoff rodeo.

  44. rogerrodgers says: Jan 9, 2014 11:06 PM

It must be nice to get paid millions to play a few games each year…

  45. philyeagles5 says: Jan 9, 2014 11:29 PM

  46. bert1913 says: Jan 9, 2014 11:36 PM

  47. logenninefingers says: Jan 10, 2014 1:49 AM

Ironic how Saints fans call the Seahawks the “Aderalls” for the 3 player caught taking it. Remember a few years back when your Saints were caught running a bounty scandal involving 25 players?
