After Kevin Gilbride retired from his job as Giants offensive coordinator, reports surfaced that the team might also be planning to part ways with quarterbacks coach Sean Ryan and special teams coach Tom Quinn.
It looks like the Giants have decided that Quinn has earned another year on the job. Jordan Raanan of NJ.com reports that Quinn will return for the 2014 season, which will be his ninth year as a member of Tom Coughlin’s staff.
Quinn’s job security was perceived to be waning after the Giants gave up three punt return touchdowns during the 2013 season without generating enough big plays of their own in the return game to balance out those errors.
If Quinn returns, it looks like Gilbride will be the only coordinator leaving after a 7-9 season. Defensive coordinator Perry Fewell interviewed for the head coaching job in Washington, but Jay Gruden’s hiring means that he won’t be jumping to the Giants’ division rivals.
