Derek Wolfe ruled out, but injured Broncos otherwise probable

The Broncos will have wide receiver Wes Welker back on the field this weekend, but the wait continues for defensive end Derek Wolfe.

Wolfe has been ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Chargers as he continues to be sidelined after experiencing seizure-like symptoms before the team travelled to Kansas City for a game late in the regular season. Wolfe was able to practice a bit before the end of the regular season, but has not practiced in the last two weeks and he won’t returning to game action until he’s able to practice again.

The rest of the Broncos’ 53-man roster is good to go for Denver’s playoff opener, though. Welker, who missed the final three games of the regular season because of a concussion, has been a full participant in practice all week and will resume his role as one of Peyton Manning’s preferred targets in the passing game.

He’ll be joined in the lineup by cornerback Champ Bailey (foot), safety Duke Ihenacho (concussion), tight end Joel Dreessen (knee) and every other key member of the team not named Wolfe.

What’s Wolfe’s deal? Is he ever gonna play again or do we have another Jahvid Best scenario on our hands?

Not a huge Broncos fan but I feel bad for the kid… looked like he was on his way to a multi Pro Bowl career. Hope they can get his issues sorted out this offseason and get him back on the field.

He’s had seizures. Otherwise on the field he’s been a great player…

I want to point out that this all started after that neck injury. Looked bad on tape, then supposedly it was minor. These lingering symptoms might indicate some type of neurological damage.

Bummer, because he was the feel good story coming out of that draft. Also a bummer because the guy had a non-stop motor, and never sat plays out.
