Dolphins announce interviews with Lazor, Shanahan

The Dolphins are taking steps toward transparency, and toward filling a coaching staff even without a General Manager in place.

The Dolphins took the unusual step of announcing that they had completed interviews with Bill Lazor and Kyle Shanahan.

We knew two days ago that the Eagles quarterbacks coach was there, and the former Redskins offensive coordinator was mentioned as a possibility also.

Former Texans head coach Gary Kubiak and Packers quarterbacks coach Ben McAdoo have also been mentioned as possbilities as well.

Poor Kyle. He’s a great young mind but he’s going to be depressed working with any other QB not named Robert Griffin. That’s like going from eating Filet Mignon at dinner for 2 years to reverting back to Ramen Noodles for the rest of your life. Ugh.

Easiest combination now would be Lazor and then Gamble at GM. If Philbin blows it halfway through next year, the GM has a ready replacement.

It’s a shame no minority candidates aren’t getting a chance at these jobs…….thanks to the Fritz Pollard Alliance, who is now preventing advancement for minorities. Good job having it both ways guys!

Would Dr. Evil refer to him as Bill “Lazor”?

Man, I know Redskins fans are delusional, but I’ve never seen one as bad as @logicalvoicesays … any post on PFT about The Rams having the 2nd pick or RGIII, and this guy acts as if Bob Griffin is the second coming of Joe Montana.

Ross is a pathetic owner. Any GM coming to Miami will have his hands full. I read minority GM’s are being told to stay away from Miami and then the Rooney rule comes into play. What a mess. Horribly run franchise for decades.

rg3 had 1 good season & will turn into the next akili smith.

    You mean RG 3-13

  9. drs76109 says: Jan 10, 2014 5:46 PM

For all the comments about Ross, you could do worse in Miami. Think Norman Braman.

Shanahan will probably love the chance to coach a QB who isn’t the personal pet of the owner and isn’t against actually learning to play position. It’s too bad Griffin will never be an elite QB, but at least he will always have $5 foot longs.

And how delusional do you have to be to think he’s an actual Redskins fan?

Moreover, Logic guy always posts within five minutes of the article appearing and his inflammatory bs generates hostility and mudslinging on both sides, dramatically increasing traffic to the articles he posts in. And more clicks translate directly into fatter paychecks for the writers here. I’m not saying, I’m just saying.

Marc Ross, Lake Dawson and Ray Farmer all seem to be African American to me. And Ray Farmer is said to be the front runner to get the job, according to the Miami Herald.

    Aaron Rodgers is totally straight!

    signed,

    Jeff Garcia

    Dont be stupid Mr. Ross.
Let the new GM hire any new coach.
    Including Philbin

  15. thehawg says: Jan 10, 2014 5:59 PM

Dolphins should hire a GM first & let them hire the offensive coordinator.

  16. rodge1 says: Jan 10, 2014 5:59 PM

    @logicalvoicesays

Mike Shanahan would go from coaching an egomaniac running QB that can’t run to coaching a smart team-oriented QB. Plus he doesn’t have Snyder looming over his shoulder like impending danger.

Omar,,,,,the dolphins are calling you. Answer the phone please – Steeler fans!

  19. mhm0428 says: Jan 10, 2014 6:24 PM

Good chance Gamble doesn’t leave for South Florida. One of the reason he came East is his father Harry Gamble is in hospice. I hope Lazor stays here in Philly.

  20. jarepine says: Jan 10, 2014 6:28 PM

For all the negative comments about Ross at least the Dolphins have an owner that’s not afraid to spend his money. Any candidate that doesn’t come to Miami and interview is a fool because if he likes you he will make you rich to get you.

  21. PeterKingLovesCoqAVin says: Jan 10, 2014 7:05 PM

Philbin reports to Ross. Ergo, the guy who said a GM should hire the next OC is either under-informed or a moron.

  22. cuda1234 says: Jan 10, 2014 7:20 PM

But where will Rex Grossman end up? Will he go to Miami with Shanahan to mentor Tannehill or to Tampa with Lovie to mentor Glennon?

  23. laxcoach37 says: Jan 10, 2014 7:32 PM

    @cuda1234

Tannehill will be a third year QB… He has improved every year, but he doesn’t need a Mentor. He needs an Offensive line and better play calling!

  24. whoops7458 says: Jan 10, 2014 8:21 PM

You guy’s don’t realize how good you have it with your head coach! Pure class! Lost his son and kept going. The problem was fired( GM). Give the guy a chance!

  25. eddiek77 says: Jan 10, 2014 9:44 PM

Guess it is amazing everywhere but in Miami that after a monumental collapse, the owner blames the GM and a few assistant coaches.
Not that Philbin is the only one to blame. It’s called heart, and it doesn’t seem to be a priority in Dolphinland.

  26. jerrahsucks says: Jan 10, 2014 10:00 PM

The Dolphins are just sad. Why would any, and I mean any NFL franchise want to hire Kyle Shanahan? The only way he ever even worked in the league, was because daddy(you know the legend who never won a thing without Elway) made Kubiak hire his brat, and then hired him himself. Boys made a lot of freaking money for someone that couldn’t get a quality high school job.

  27. larryfinfan says: Jan 10, 2014 10:33 PM

Read up folks, FPA has now told candidates the misunderstanding has been resolved….in fact just hours after the original story broke, it was resolved….

  28. dolfan72 says: Jan 11, 2014 9:16 AM

    FIRE JOE PHILBIN!

  29. dolfan72 says: Jan 11, 2014 9:16 AM

  30. danmarinos1stlovechild says: Jan 11, 2014 9:23 AM

I hope the Dolphins hire Lazor and Gamble. Seems like the best option to me. Make it happen Ross!!!
