Report: Morocco Brown interviewing for Bucs on Friday

brown_morocco

The Buccaneers’ search for a new general manager has led them to Morocco.

Morocco Brown, that is. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that Brown, currently the Redskins’ director of pro personnel, is interviewing Friday for the vacancy created by the departure of Mark Dominik.

Brown interviewed for the general manager opening in Arizona last year before the Cardinals decided to promote Steve Keim and just completed his sixth season in his current post with the Redskins. When Washington General Manager Bruce Allen asserted his control over the football side of the Redskins in the wake of coach Mike Shanahan’s firing, he said he anticipated working closely with Brown in the future.

That won’t happen if he and the Bucs come to an agreement, although he’ll have plenty of competition. The Bucs are slated to interview Falcons exec Lionel Vital and Titans exec Lake Dawson on Saturday with Giants exec Marc Ross scheduled to interview on Sunday.

Whichever candidate winds up in the job will find their role limited somewhat by coach Lovie Smith’s contractual control over personnel matters.
