Ryan Mathews not practicing on Friday

Earlier this week, Chargers coach Mike McCoy said that running back Ryan Mathews would be on his usual practice schedule heading into Sunday’s date with the Broncos.

That schedule has seen Mathews rest his injured ankle early in the week and then practice on Friday before playing in that weekend’s game. As it turns out, though, Mathews isn’t on the same schedule. Michael Gehlken of U-T San Diego reports that Mathews was held out of practice again on Friday.

San Diego will release its official injury report later on Friday, which will give some more insight into Mathews’ chances of playing against Denver in the Divisional Round.

There was some better medical news regarding center Nick Hardwick. Hardwick is back at practice after suffering a concussion last weekend, which means he’s passed the tests necessary to participate in practice. He’ll need to pass another to play on Sunday or Rich Ohrnberger will take over in the middle of the offensive line.

Whoops, Charger fans are shaking, even if he plays question will he be a 100%? Either way i think the Broncos take it.

    Hurt again???…That’s shocking news.

Soft, just like their Coach McCoy.

Trust me, San Diego – your are about to get a taste of McCoy coaching, just like we did last January against the Ravens. Scared coaching doesn’t win in the playoffs.

    Denver 45 SD 21

This sucks if you’re a Chargers fan. He’s had a great season.

In the past he would’ve been out for a few weeks before getting back on the field but I must admit, he’s played thru the injuries and has come thru on the running game this year. Woodhead is helping with taking some of the snaps so he can sit a few plays. Hopefully he plays most of the game on Sunday. Go Bolts!

If he can’t play or play and be effective that’s going to hurt. I like Woodhead but he isn’t exactly a workhorse. The way to beat Manning is not give Manning the ball. The Chargers definitely need to play ball control and win time of possession in order to win.

Broncos will crush the chargers with or without him on the way to their 3rd Super Bowl win!

SD needs mathews if they have any chance of winning.

If they can hit Manning hard and often, it won’t matter.

The Chargers are inside the Broncos’ heads.

He’s been solid this year working under this new coaching staff & front office, so it would be a shame if he can’t go on Sunday.

This is too bad, he has been a hoss for the Chargers this year, and him and Woodhead quite compliment each other in the running game.

    Regardless, Chargers 31-21.

Even if he’s injured Peyton will manage to choke.

His ankle has been hurt for awhile now.. At this point rest may be better than an extra day of practice.

This guy will do some damage if he can ever find a way to not be injured.

This is the last team that Broncos wanted to face. The Broncos D is suspect.

    Von Miller is out.

    Division Rival.

    Chargers can score points.

Mike McCoy (Broncos OC last year) knows Peyton and his offensive schemes well, so Peyton is going to need to do some big changes for this weekend.

The only good things going for the Broncos is :

    They’re getting Welker back.

I heard that Ken Whisenhunt went to 3 Headcoach Interviews this week, which is a bad move considering that he needs to spend as much time with Phillip Rivers as possible to prepare for the big game. (Which could be the reason why the Chargers lose)

Ryan Matthews is probably not playing.

That being said it’s going to be a very close game.

    I would predict a 24-23 Chargers victory.
