Earlier this week, Chargers coach Mike McCoy said that running back Ryan Mathews would be on his usual practice schedule heading into Sunday’s date with the Broncos.

That schedule has seen Mathews rest his injured ankle early in the week and then practice on Friday before playing in that weekend’s game. As it turns out, though, Mathews isn’t on the same schedule. Michael Gehlken of U-T San Diego reports that Mathews was held out of practice again on Friday.

San Diego will release its official injury report later on Friday, which will give some more insight into Mathews’ chances of playing against Denver in the Divisional Round.

There was some better medical news regarding center Nick Hardwick. Hardwick is back at practice after suffering a concussion last weekend, which means he’s passed the tests necessary to participate in practice. He’ll need to pass another to play on Sunday or Rich Ohrnberger will take over in the middle of the offensive line.
