Dennard pick, Blount touchdown give Patriots early lead

blount AP

It couldn’t have started any better for the Patriots.

An Alfonzo Dennard interception and a LeGarrette Blount touchdown have given New England an early 7-0 lead in tonight’s divisional playoff game against the Colts.

Indianapolis quarterback Andrew Luck got things started with a bad pass, staring down receiver LaVon Brazill and throwing it to him even though Dennard was in tight coverage. Brazill initially looked like he might catch it, but Brazill reached in, wrestled it away and raced to the 2-yard line.

From there, Blount plunged in on New England’s first offensive play. A great start for the Patriots.

It didn’t get much better on the Colts’ second offensive possession, on which they went three-and-out. If we know anything about these Colts, it’s that they’re capable of coming from behind. They’ll have to tonight.

Luck just started his 5th quarter in these playoffs and already has, what, 4 interceptions?

Thank God Schiano didn’t stick around, we’d probably be trading McCoy to the Pats for a 5th round pick and some refrigerator magnets.

All in all I didn’t think Colts really stood a chance anyway. AFC championship game has Pats-Broncos written all over it. As Brady’s and Mannings careers start coming closer to the end anyway,I think it’s fitting, maybe even poetic that they have to face each other to go to the super bowl.

5 INTs and counting in 3 playoff games for Luck.

Lol basically a pick 6 in the first drive for luck. And people still think he is better than russell wilson. Yea luck throws for more yards than wilson but only cause he throws more. Russell Wilson more TD’s, higher completion percentage, less TO’s, higher QB rating. If Luck was the QB for the Hawks we would not be 13-3 more like 10-6 cause of all those TO’s.

Andrew Luck might be the next Peyton Manning, But he’s no Tom Brady.

It’s still early but I feel pretty good so far. The pats are catching fire like that hunger games chick at the right time.

Luck is, without a doubt, the absolute worst top pick in NFL history.

No but really Luck does have a great arm. He just makes bad decisions at times, but that will no doubt get better as he gets older. He’ll be a great quarterback for years to come. For some reason he reminds me a lot of drew Brees but with a stronger arm. He’ll have a SB ring within 5 years.
