Patriots running over the Colts

blount AP

The inability of the Colts’ defense to stop the Patriots’ running game on the goal line has been the difference tonight in New England.

Stevan Ridley ran for a three-yard touchdown, then ran for a two-point conversion, in the third quarter to give the Patriots a 29-15 lead over the Colts.

Ridley’s touchdown was the Patriots’ fourth rushing touchdown in a goal-to-go situation: New England running back LeGarrette Blount has also scored three two-yard touchdowns tonight.

The Colts are doing their best to stay alive, and the Andrew Luck-led offense isn’t going down without a fight. But the Colts simply can’t stop the Patriots at the goal line. And that’s a pretty big problem.

You forgot to mention how they got to the goalline. Another pi call on 3rd and long that was questionable.

I’m completely astounded at the Patriots running game. I admit I don’t watch them that much but I just hadn’t heard they were such a great running team. That makes them very dangerous.

Russell Wilson plays smart, mistake free football in a tight game and he gets lambasted, Luck buries his team in another deep hole from his poor mistakes and gets slurped on.

Luck’s turning it on so cool your jets.

Questionable? Edelman got tackled with the ball still in the air. I like how people think that pats should NEVER have a penalty go their way. If it was reversed nobody would mention it.

Not quite yet. Only 1 TD ahead. Colts are coming back.

  7. packhawk04 says: Jan 11, 2014 10:30 PM

Those PI calls irk me. A badly underthrown ball, gets bailed out because the defender didnt turn his head.

  8. thekiller678 says: Jan 11, 2014 10:31 PM

Terrible P.I. call on third down. Edelman was making just as much contact as the defender did.

This is how the Pats won their SB’s. Not because of Tom Brady.

Blount wasn’t good enough for the Bucs but he is a real play
maker for the Pats. Another mistake we have to eat!

“Russell Wilson plays smart, mistake free football in a tight game and he gets lambasted.”

I have no idea what this is about. It’s a Patriots/Colts thread and Russell Wilson is the best and most classiest player on the Hawks team. Leave him out of it.

Minnysoda vikqueens personified = Barney Fife

Please “skol” their 53 season run of historical irrelevance.

Man, you people look for anything to blame on the Patriots. That was a clear pass interference, cut the crap. But yet if that was a Pats fan complaining on a call we won’t hear the end of it. Enjoy the fourth, kids.

  14. truthfactory says: Jan 11, 2014 10:42 PM

The amount of flags the refs held in their pockets to help the Pats is ridiculous.

The Colts are defensively and offensively soft. They simply do not belong and it’s showing.

Colts are getting screwed by the refs.

Luck with another pick great job

  20. bostonian13 says: Jan 11, 2014 10:50 PM

Refs huh? Maybe Luck shouldn’t have thrown THREE INTERCEPTIONS!

  21. thatwasntsological says: Jan 11, 2014 10:50 PM

Wow 2 games for Luck, 6 ints

Ernie Adams, doing what he does best….

  23. gvrose8192 says: Jan 11, 2014 10:55 PM

The Colts certainly aren’t gonna win much giving up 40+ points per game in the playoffs.

    Just sayin’

Honestly, it’s not enjoyable watching post season football anymore.
    The results seem scripted recently.
When the zebras refuse to call obvious penalties on one team, and everything possible on the other, it makes the whole thing a pointless exercise.
I’ve seen it in just about every game. I don’t have a horse in the race, but it seems apparent which games the league would like to see.

It’s called reality. He threw for like 150 yards in a Superbowl win. He threw 3 INT’s in an AFC championship game and won.

Frankly, he’s been the worst player for the Pats tonight. How many other QB’s can go 1 for 7 passing and gain an additional 14 point lead on their opponents during that span??

  26. emmac13 says: Jan 11, 2014 11:11 PM

Edelman is a great talent. But man does he cry about not getting calls. And he acts like every tackle on him was an illegal hit. He needs to just play.

  27. pastabelly says: Jan 11, 2014 11:22 PM

I don’t know how anyone can watch that game and believe the teams are evenly matched. The Colts need a defense.

  28. fair2bfare says: Jan 11, 2014 11:26 PM

    Make that 4!!!

  29. defscottyb says: Jan 11, 2014 11:32 PM

    RG3 > Luck

  30. harrisonhits2 says: Jan 11, 2014 11:45 PM

Maybe I was watching a different game but the Pats had quite a lot of penalties called on them tonight. You people are acting like there were no penalties at all called against them and the the Colts didn’t get away with a few themselves.

  31. CaJonMcChicken says: Jan 12, 2014 3:55 AM

Nobody wanted to hit that Blount

  32. dudeicle says: Jan 13, 2014 12:05 AM

The Patriots are really surprising me this year. Just think how dangerous they will be next year when this year’s rookies have more experience, the D gets healthy… and the Gronkonian one returns. Maybe they don’t need all that to win two more games, but it would sure be nice to have right about now. Now go out and kick some Manning a$$!
