Percy Harvin ruled out with concussion

Divisional Playoffs - New Orleans Saints v Seattle Seahawks Getty Images

Seahawks wide receiver Percy Harvin has been ruled out of Saturday’s divisional playoff game vs. New Orleans after suffering a concussion, the club announced.

Limited to one game in the regular season because of a hip injury, Harvin was a key part of the offense as the Seahawks built a 16-0 halftime lead against New Orleans, hauling in three passes for 21 yards and rushing once for nine yards.

Harvin may have been injured late in the second quarter after his helmet hit the turf on an incomplete pass. In the first quarter, Harvin was checked for a concussion after being hit in the helmet by Saints defensive back Rafael Bush, but he remained in the game.

Geez, is it time to figure out how many games Harvin has played versus missed due to injury in his career? Great talent but he can’t seem to stay on the field.

  3. 92nick182govikings says: Jan 11, 2014 6:30 PM

His entire career will be plagued by injury’s. Cordarrelle Patterson for the win!

He’ll be out for the first half of next season…………..recovering.

  6. FlashPatterson says: Jan 11, 2014 6:32 PM

hahahah enjoy that seattle. He’ll be either injured or in a contract dispute for the rest of his career.

  7. beavertonsteve says: Jan 11, 2014 6:33 PM

Probably had a concussion the first time, but managed to pass his tests.

  8. benjaminseikar55 says: Jan 11, 2014 6:33 PM

Payton’s head-hunting Defense still in full affect. Kill-the-Head is still being encouraged.

    Harvin is made of glass.

    Dude is so fragile.

  11. jakec4 says: Jan 11, 2014 6:35 PM

The Seahawks don’t need him anyway. They could probably play second stringers and win this game.

  12. belgaron says: Jan 11, 2014 6:36 PM

Clearly speared early by the cheap shot. Would have scored a bounty for that.

  13. canetic says: Jan 11, 2014 6:37 PM

I hope his migraines don’t start coming back now. He got whacked hard twice.

    BU$T.

  17. bowdowntopeyton says: Jan 11, 2014 6:40 PM

I usually crack on the glassman percy but that hit was the usual dirty stuff you get from N.O.

  18. 80sbroncofan says: Jan 11, 2014 6:40 PM

Should have taken the same p.e.ds as the rest of the team.

  19. taintedsaints2009 says: Jan 11, 2014 6:41 PM

You can already tell how important Harvin is to the offense. Seahawks look lost without him out there. With him, they looked stellar. Seattle is in trouble if he cannot come back to play this season.

  20. buffaloviking says: Jan 11, 2014 6:41 PM

Percy who. Skol Vikings. What a loser.

  24. babyfarkmcgeezax says: Jan 11, 2014 6:42 PM

    Cordarrelle > Percy

  25. 92nick182govikings says: Jan 11, 2014 6:42 PM

He has missed more games than he has played in. His toughness just isn’t great enough for the NFL. Maybe he belongs in the CFL.

  26. dublindemonszfl says: Jan 11, 2014 6:42 PM

told ya he’d be injured by halftime. Too bad he has skills, but can’t take a hit.

    RunDMC or Percy….

You are literally saying Cordarelle Patterson isn’t helping. What are you on, anyway?

  35. claymatthewsisonsteroids says: Jan 11, 2014 7:01 PM

As a Vikings fan, I love Percy. He’s possibly the most electric player in the league when healthy. But that’s the problem, he’s consistently shown that he’s injury prone. I’ll take a consistent Cordarrelle over an injury prone Harvin any day.

  36. dynalee10 says: Jan 11, 2014 7:02 PM

PH = great talent but is never a guy you can depend on to be on the field .

  37. timdavis697 says: Jan 11, 2014 7:04 PM

  42. jbvikes says: Jan 11, 2014 7:34 PM

I don’t wish any bad on any player but Speilman sure looks like he made a great trade. Go Cordarrel!

  43. thejuddstir says: Jan 11, 2014 7:40 PM

Richard Sherman and Pete Carroll will get Percy hooked up with the good stuff in the off-season and teach him how to beat the test.

  44. jerrykill4pres says: Jan 11, 2014 7:42 PM

Phenemonal talent, no doubt about that. But i’m starting to question whether the meds they have him on for migraines isn’t starting to affect his judgement, and his mind a little. How else can he be so hurt all season and not play, but be just fine for the first half of the MN game, then not be able to play til Coach decides to tell him he’s either playing or going on IR. Could the meds be affecting him or his judgement?

Whether it is, or it isn’t. It sucks, because he’s got gobs and gobs of talent. Just everything above the shoulders seems to have some problems. Doesn’t matter what team he’s on. He’s got talent. Just got some issues upstairs.

  45. razzol says: Jan 11, 2014 7:44 PM

What the heck is going on with the Saints ? Try a field goal with 3 minutes in the game ? For what ? to make it 11 to 16 ..dumb move 4 down territory coach..break of make call you lose …good luck Seattle !!!

  46. vikingarsk says: Jan 11, 2014 7:44 PM

Great player……like a year and a half ago. He missed half of last season, was in one regular season game this year, and only three snaps in this game. Yikes. Might be time to admit the Vikings got the best of that deal.

  49. thatswhatimsayin says: Jan 11, 2014 7:51 PM

  50. cobaltdriver says: Jan 11, 2014 7:51 PM

I’d be surprised if the league doesn’t go after the Seahawks. He was knocked out on that first possession, as was Golden Tate.

  58. purpleppleeaters says: Jan 11, 2014 8:37 PM

Most Vikings fans do not wish ill will on Percy or the Seahawks.
We just knew that he “is was who we THOUGHT he was.”
He’s a talented guy that simply cannot stay healthy. Period. The Vikings were merely looking for more games out of the guy. It should be clear that he is never going to be much of a factor. He may be one of the most fragile guys in the league. That’s it.

    This is doubtful.
Seattle has a boatload of rookie contracts that are coming due, very soon. Your window of opportunity may actually be shorter than most. Your boys are going to want to get paid, and they will. You won’t be able to pay them all. Enjoy ‘em while you got ‘em.

Some true idiots here. Maybe u didn’t see the first hit harvin came back from. I mean seriously he gets blasted comes back and it wasn’t until the second dirty hit that he got concussion. I bet any of u that talking trash would be out for the year after the first hit. Show some respect you talking about the inevitable Super Bowl champs

  63. bubbasmithguy says: Jan 11, 2014 8:54 PM

Two cheap shots on a player who hasn’t been in the game for months and people are already counting him out. I’ve always liked NO, right up until that first nasty hit. I don’t mind aggressive, tough football, but those hits were just plain dirty. Another bountygate if I’ve ever seen one.

  66. hazelmn says: Jan 11, 2014 9:18 PM

Some players just get injured more. Is it coincidence? Biology? Something else?

I don’t know. I tuned in to this game hoping to see Percy make a couple electric plays. Instead, I fear he has a new injury concern.

  74. chawk12thman says: Jan 13, 2014 2:14 PM

Harvin isn’t the one at fault here……..unlike most of your posts’. ……The first hit was illegal and head hunting type of contact……The second happened and likely was compounded by that first helmet to helmet hit.

I firmly believe that Harvin will be successful here in Seattle…..Time will Tell.

    Go Hawks!
