The Colts announced the signing of six players to reserve/future contracts on Monday, including quarterback Chandler Harnish, the final pick in the 2012 draft.

Harnish, 25, spent the 2013 season on the Colts’ practice squad.

The Colts carried just two quarterbacks on the roster this season: starter Andrew Luck and backup Matt Hasselbeck. In October, Hasselbeck told Alex Marvez of that he intended to retire after the 2014 season. Hasselbeck is signed through next season.

The Colts also signed offensive guard Zach Allen, center Thomas Austin, linebacker Alan Baxter, defensive back Marcus Burley and tight end Martell Webb to reserve/future deals.

    Well, if your career legacy is Mr. Irrelevant, there is no better place to live up to the name than as a backup in Indy to Andrew Luck, who is a year younger.

    I’m guessing he’ll have as much of an impact this week as Deion Branch did last week.

    Harnish will back up Luck for three years, throw a total of 9 passes, and some team will decide he’s a hidden gem and give the Colts a second round draft pick for him. Works every time.;
