Deion Sanders says he’s playing in the Pro Bowl

Deion Sanders AP

Saddle up the high horses, and make righteous your indignation.

They’re about to make a mockery of the Pro Bowl.

Hall of Fame cornerback Deion Sanders just tweeted that he “WILL SUIT UP IN HAWAII,” pressuring fellow team captain Jerry Rice to do the same.

He also send a message to Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson, telling him that 21 may not be available to him.

Having Sanders and Rice out there running around does exactly zero to diminish the sanctity of the game (there was none prior), and might actually make it more interesting.

While ripping off the NHL’s fantasy draft idea might not have been enough to generate interest, having Sanders involved will at least make some casual fans tune in.

At least until they beat the commercials into the ground the way they did with Leon Sandcastle’s Combine appearance.

Jerry Rice would still burn you, Deion.

    Don’t break a hip Deion…

  3. 1phd says: Jan 13, 2014 1:41 PM

Uh oh. They better enlarge the entrance to Aloha Stadium so his head will fit through.

  4. theesquireof212 says: Jan 13, 2014 1:41 PM

    My childhood idol? I’ll watch.

  5. Marv says: Jan 13, 2014 1:41 PM

They’re moving in the right direction. This was never gonna be a competitive game in the first place. So just make it a thing where some NFL stars are having fun. Ratings will be there.

  6. jpb12 says: Jan 13, 2014 1:42 PM

Just let Rex Ryan coach and send in the clown car

  7. blacknole08 says: Jan 13, 2014 1:42 PM

    Please let this happen.

  8. hunnymoney says: Jan 13, 2014 1:43 PM

Wow…maybe it’s not too late…they can have a contest for a fan to play with them too…makes about as much sense…

  9. wnstonchill says: Jan 13, 2014 1:43 PM

As the “church lady” would say……”Well, isn’t that special..”

  10. floratiotime says: Jan 13, 2014 1:43 PM

Oh yeah, they’re diminishing the fine contest. Right.

  11. ad2k13 says: Jan 13, 2014 1:43 PM

I hope Adrian Peterson absolutely trucks Deion’s 46 year old frame en route to a long TD run.

  12. @HowdyDoobie says: Jan 13, 2014 1:44 PM

Why don’t they just make it a flag football game and let celebrities play? (Sarcasm)

  13. 7to85 says: Jan 13, 2014 1:44 PM

way to make it about you Deion. Go Away

  14. tommysaint1 says: Jan 13, 2014 1:45 PM

If he didn’t play in the first 10 minutes of the game, I’d never know he was there. That goes for every year past and future.

Bring back the skills competition and dump the game you rule changing, commercial selling, non-taxed behemoth of a league.

Ladies and Gentlemen I am officially announcing “I WILL HAVE ACL SURGERY IN ATLANTA” Please let @DrJamesAndrews know!

  16. fdugrad says: Jan 13, 2014 1:46 PM

You know, this is NOT a bad idea. The game is STRICTLY an exhibition for a few hours during the vacation of all the players. Both of the HOF men look as though they are in great shape. Heck, let’s ring up Troy, Michael, Jerry’s HOF QBs Joe and Steve and get to it! This COULD be quite a show!

  17. cheapglazers says: Jan 13, 2014 1:46 PM

Awesome! Make this happen and I will watch!

  18. sf69ers says: Jan 13, 2014 1:47 PM

So we will get to see Deion on Megatron? Excellent!

  19. bobzilla1001 says: Jan 13, 2014 1:47 PM

I’s my understanding that his “game” is played annually only because its TV ratings are off the charts. If true, enticing “casual fans” to tune in seems unnecessary. Besides, most “casuals” have never heard of Deion Sanders … which is precisely the reason Sanders has decided to make the “game” all about himself.
Sanders’ involvement is simply just another good reason not to watch.

  20. shmu65 says: Jan 13, 2014 1:48 PM

Relax everyone. He’s just means he’s gonna wear a suit and tie on the sidelines. Get it?? You may now carry on…

  21. wisconsinhillfolk says: Jan 13, 2014 1:48 PM

I don’t want to see this. I would also prefer not to hear anything about it. This headline should be in the Onion sports section.

  22. pooflingingmonkey says: Jan 13, 2014 1:48 PM

No way they play. This is simply a ploy for publicity.

  23. bowdowntopeyton says: Jan 13, 2014 1:48 PM

    Pub hound.

    Go away.

  24. craniator says: Jan 13, 2014 1:49 PM

You guys can make fun of “Neon Deion” all you want — he was still one of the best athletes in the history of mankind.
I still remember his very first game , as a rookie in 1989 with the Atlanta Falcons . . . he was back to return his first punt (vs the Rams) and took it to the house.

  25. chinahand11 says: Jan 13, 2014 1:49 PM

This game sux anyway. Yeah, put Deion out there, a chance to see Mr. Hey Look at Me get bulldozered by AD is too much to miss.

  26. fatcamper says: Jan 13, 2014 1:49 PM

What day and time is this on? I want to make sure to be far far away from a television at that time.

  27. osubrndn says: Jan 13, 2014 1:49 PM

he was afraid to tackle when he was in elite shape…how will this work?

  28. udub says: Jan 13, 2014 1:49 PM

It would be kinda cool if there was a ‘legends’ spot for each team. They draft the teams and then suit up. Jerry Rice and Deion Sanders this year. What guys like Ray Lewis and Brian Urlacher next year?

  29. grogseal says: Jan 13, 2014 1:50 PM

  34. propertyofthebroncos says: Jan 13, 2014 1:52 PM

Make it a skills competition! Bring back old players and have current players compete as well. The pro bowl is a joke and a mockery of the game.

  37. lightcleric says: Jan 13, 2014 1:53 PM

  38. jlb10 says: Jan 13, 2014 1:53 PM

They’re about to make a mockery of the Pro Bowl.

really? is hasn’t been a mockery and joke for at least a decade?

  39. ill42 says: Jan 13, 2014 1:54 PM

You guys realize he’s joking right? Prime and The G.O.A.T. are not playing in the game

  40. dietrich43 says: Jan 13, 2014 1:55 PM

Don’t know about his cover skills, but his tackling can’t have gotten worse.

  41. dumbpollack says: Jan 13, 2014 1:55 PM

Your right on, hunnymoney. Let’s get the cast of Jackass out there for a few snaps. Knoxville can at QB and Steve-O can run the ball. Get rid of the game already!!!!

  42. ampats says: Jan 13, 2014 1:56 PM

Don’t like the idea. Players have worked for this honor and really not interested in watching Meion Sanders make it about himself.

  43. summitmech says: Jan 13, 2014 1:56 PM

I never watch the Pro Bowl.

I will watch for this reason alone. I hope he dresses as Leon Sandcastle, that would just be hilarious.

  44. packh8er says: Jan 13, 2014 1:56 PM

Can the next step for the NFL be to make the hall of famers play in the Hall of Fame game?

  45. nflinsider711 says: Jan 13, 2014 1:57 PM

“The Best Receiver Ever vs The Corner Ever” I will watch this game now.

  46. mrplow3 says: Jan 13, 2014 1:57 PM

“They’re about to make a mockery of the Pro Bowl.”

What’s this “They’re about to” nonsense?

Nothing Deion or Rice could do will make this game anymore of a mockery than it’s already been.

I say let them suit up, who cares.

  47. madpunter88 says: Jan 13, 2014 1:58 PM

This is a horrid idea on many levels. The purpose of changing the format of the game was to encourage more interest AND to get the players to take it more seriously. Having these two egos running the game already makes it more about them than the players. Now it is going to be turned in to even more of a mockery with celebrity appearances and gimmick retired players deciding when they will play. Why would the actual selectees take it seriously and play competitively when old retired players are showing up to make it more about them? I will not watch this travesty.

  48. xsidiousx says: Jan 13, 2014 1:59 PM

Leon Sandcastle in the Pro Bowl!

  49. smilesaustin says: Jan 13, 2014 1:59 PM

    Is this real life?

  50. wrongowright says: Jan 13, 2014 1:59 PM

Might as well, he didn’t hit anyone while he played so his game is perfect for the Pro Bowl

  51. shlort says: Jan 13, 2014 2:00 PM

Great idea…. until either Rice or Sanders tears an ACL on the first play.

Those two may have been keeping in somewhat decent shape for people who are not playing sports at a professional level. Sanders must have forgotten the amount of work it took to stay in game shape.

I haven’t watched the pro bowl in years. I doubt I’ll watch it this time either. The game lacks everything people tune into football for and we can’t expect these players to play hard in a game that means nothing to them but a free trip to Hawaii and some pocket change (yeah, that kinda money is pocket change to these high paid players).

Pro bowl nods should be some sort of award these guys get that gives them a trophy and donates some money to their favorite charity. No game needed. Maybe fly them all to Hawaii for a weeks vacation and have some charity events there as well. A game that is played at half speed and no effort? Useless.

  52. kozmo50 says: Jan 13, 2014 2:01 PM

Perfect game for you Deion!! You never hit anyone when you were playing anyway…..it’ll be like old times!

  53. thestrategyexpert says: Jan 13, 2014 2:03 PM

I’d like to see a PFT All-Unemployed Team game. Losing coach gets fired, and winning coach gets first pick in the draft of those players, but the team forfeits the pick if they still fire the coach.

  54. chawk12thman says: Jan 13, 2014 2:04 PM

HOF players versus Pro Bowl Players. Any player selected more than 3 times plays on the HOF Team…..

  55. jviva77 says: Jan 13, 2014 2:04 PM

I love Leon Sandcastle! Prime-time has charisma . He is nothing if not entertaining.

  56. mvp43 says: Jan 13, 2014 2:06 PM

I thought that Sanders was fired from NFL Network……… what happened with that?

  57. jersey73 says: Jan 13, 2014 2:07 PM

Deion didn’t like contact in his playing days…the Pro Bowl is perfect for him.

  58. mrplow3 says: Jan 13, 2014 2:07 PM

“he was afraid to tackle when he was in elite shape…how will this work?”

Wait they actually TACKLE in the pro bowl? When did this happen and why wasn’t I informed?

  59. thegreatgabbert says: Jan 13, 2014 2:07 PM

  64. raiderufan says: Jan 13, 2014 2:10 PM

I haven’t watched the Pro Bowl since they stopped showing skills competitions during the week leading up. I’d still rather watch 2005 Laroi Glover bench press 225lbs six hundred times over watching this game.

  65. thebirdofprey2 says: Jan 13, 2014 2:11 PM

Pro Bowl already was a joke.

Deion Sanders is making his even more of joke making his whole thing about him and forcing poor Jerry Rice into awkward exchanges.

  66. azarkhan says: Jan 13, 2014 2:11 PM

Memo to Deion: nobody watches the Pro Bowl.

  67. antneejay2 says: Jan 13, 2014 2:13 PM

Making a mockery out of a farce… interesting concept.

  68. silverhornet says: Jan 13, 2014 2:13 PM

They should just make it a legends game. I’d pay money to watch Marino sling it again.

  69. natepalmer1 says: Jan 13, 2014 2:14 PM

Does anyone watch the pro bowl?

  70. winstonjed44 says: Jan 13, 2014 2:14 PM

Haha I don’t see a problem with. If anything, it makes it more interesting and if it gets more people to watch then it’s a success. The Pro Bowl means nothing as it is, and it’s not as if this is going to diminish the game. Might even tune in to a few snaps to see it if he does play.

  71. deathonwings410 says: Jan 13, 2014 2:15 PM

Hmmm, maybe the Broncos will sign him for this weekend’s game.

  72. bert1913 says: Jan 13, 2014 2:16 PM

Will they make a special helmet to fit deions head?

  73. thewiz37 says: Jan 13, 2014 2:16 PM

Peyton Manning is already watching old tape of Deion in search of some tendencies to exploit in two weeks :)

  74. fwippel says: Jan 13, 2014 2:16 PM

I didn’t think it was possible to relegate this game any further into irrelevancy than it already was.

    I was wrong.

I do love this statement: “They’re about to make a mockery of the Pro Bowl”. LOL! About to?! The game was never a big deal to begin with. Goodell made it even less appealing by moving it prior to the Super Bowl (and thereby excluding each conference champion). This move is the final nail in the coffin.

  75. beardinals says: Jan 13, 2014 2:16 PM

Add a skills contest and it’s on its way (to what, I don’t know).

  76. grantsbuds says: Jan 13, 2014 2:17 PM

  78. smokingconch says: Jan 13, 2014 2:19 PM

  79. don2074978 says: Jan 13, 2014 2:20 PM

Put Bo Jackson in. I bet he can still carry Deion 99 yards to tje end zone even with artificial hip.

  82. cowboyfan45 says: Jan 13, 2014 2:23 PM

  83. @Cereal_22 says: Jan 13, 2014 2:23 PM

There’s an idea for the Pro Bowl, make retired guys play a game of two hand touch.

  84. steelerben says: Jan 13, 2014 2:28 PM

I like the idea of seeing Deion and Rice out there. If you want to totally reformat the game and have people watch it, a game of flag football between All Pros and Hall of Famers would be hilarious. Sherman could pick up a pass interference call for pulling Cris Carter’s flag at the line of scrimmage, Warren Sapp could get ejected for forgetting it is flag football and decapitating Andrew Luck…

The game is a joke anyway, might as well get a chance to see some legends suit up one more time.

  85. travh20 says: Jan 13, 2014 2:28 PM

Can’t wait to see Joe Staley destroy Deion on an end around sweep.

  86. catfish252 says: Jan 13, 2014 2:29 PM

I don’t understand why he still being heard from, he had nothing interesting to say when he was player and it hasn’t improved since then.

  87. brazin99 says: Jan 13, 2014 2:29 PM

Mockery? Ha! This will actually make things a little more interesting. In fact I’d suggest there is one team that is the regular “Pro Bowl” team and the other team is a collection of former Pro Bowl players of HOF players.

Geezers VS. Current. Players on winning team get $150k each and losers go home with zip…naughta. I bet them old farts will actually play to win.

  88. cornerstone2001 says: Jan 13, 2014 2:33 PM

this game is perfect for Deion. They never tackle anyone in the Pro Bowl and neither did Sub Prime his entire career

  89. BigAlHeBDMan says: Jan 13, 2014 2:38 PM

Will he be wearing his Leon Highcastle outfit?

  90. ratsfoiledagain says: Jan 13, 2014 2:38 PM

Can we make close-lining a player legal for this game?

Or how about this. Deion has to make at least 5 tackles, pad on pad tackles, with pop, on the opposing teams RB/FB.

Lets see if he wants to play now.

  91. orivar says: Jan 13, 2014 2:39 PM

It would be even more interesting if it was moved to AFTER THE SUPERBOWL! You know, like how it used to be? That way we can see the guys that got voted in it..play! Yeah that would be a great idea but it’s all about earning money. Keeping that football every week religion up. Bah.

I want a new league and will start supporting new leagues, like the nsfl. Hopefully competition, if it lasts, will get the NFL’s ‘think tank’ back to thinking.

  92. iceburgskin202 says: Jan 13, 2014 2:41 PM

This game has always been a joke so making it funnier is now a problem? Who cares it’s all entertainment. I think they should have a skills comp and bring back the nfl fastest man competition.

  93. cfballfan1 says: Jan 13, 2014 2:44 PM

Pack an extra ACL & MCL Dion.

  94. mburkett1980 says: Jan 13, 2014 2:46 PM

Deion may be on to something here. I actually think this is a great idea for the direction the game should go.

Maybe every year have 2 (or maybe 4 or 6) recently retired past greats play in the game.

Perhaps split up the past greats and have them choose their teams in a draft.

    I.E.

Team 1 (Jerry, Deion, and Marshall’s team)
Team 2 (Sapp, Irvin, and Shannon Sharpe’s team)

    I’d watch.

  95. jviva77 says: Jan 13, 2014 2:47 PM

So many haters in the world. It is fascinating. I don’t like this and I don’t like that. Great let him play. So what. What is the negative about it? A bunch of you would hate anything. Finding reasons to hate that’s all it is.

  98. 24mountaincreeks says: Jan 13, 2014 2:59 PM

  100. mnwolves01 says: Jan 13, 2014 3:03 PM

Why does he get to play? He wasnt voted in. I dont want to see this idiot on the field!!!!!!! Also why does the clown Jerry Rice get to be a captain? This is retarded. Just do away with the pro bowl if your going to do this garbage!!

  101. coolherc says: Jan 13, 2014 3:05 PM

  102. zatoichi7 says: Jan 13, 2014 3:05 PM

who cares? watching the pro bowl is an act of desperation in and of itself. i’ll miss football the minute the super bowl is over, but the pro bowl is not football.

  103. mrfrostyj says: Jan 13, 2014 3:06 PM

It’s a brilliant idea actually. Imagine the ratings if NFL legends young enough to still go got to play alongside the players of today. Who wouldn’t want to see a Manning to Rice pass or Megatron one on one against Deon Sanders. Heck, I bet Barry Sanders to this day would have a better Yards per Carry average than the Colts version of Trent Richardson even if they played at full speed.

  104. upperdecker19 says: Jan 13, 2014 3:07 PM

He’ll be holder on field goal attempts.

  105. tedknight40 says: Jan 13, 2014 3:08 PM

  107. laxcoach37 says: Jan 13, 2014 3:15 PM

I assume they will then let Dan Marino square off against Joe Montana for a series as well? Seriously, do away with the Game altogether and just name ProBowl honors as 1st team and 2nd team. The players really dont give a crap about $25K unless it is a rookie min paid guy (which wont last long at that salary being selected). Most of these guys wear the wrong socks or colored shoes and get fined more!

  108. eastofmissball says: Jan 13, 2014 3:16 PM

  109. gurnblanstonreturns says: Jan 13, 2014 3:17 PM

  110. weepingjebus says: Jan 13, 2014 3:18 PM

Over the past fifteen years or so the Pro Bowl has become so inane I’ve stopped watching it. I had absolutely no intention of watching it this year. Now, with Deion jumping into the mix, I’m considering going to the mall with my wife. Sheesh!

  118. Youknowimright says: Jan 13, 2014 4:00 PM

The pro bowl became a complete joke when no one wanted to play in it anymore and 10 players at each position were selectes just to field a roster. There is no real prestige if you are the 8th d end taken. Are you really callng yourself a pro bowler. Come on have some pride. The game is a total joke.

  119. nfceastisbeast says: Jan 13, 2014 4:00 PM

Jerry Rice is THE MOST CONCEITED person I have ever heard. Who saw him during the last MNF game at the Stick? It was all, I, I, I. Pathetic

NFL is turning into a bigger joke .

  121. bluenose1965 says: Jan 13, 2014 4:06 PM

  122. thesloppy says: Jan 13, 2014 4:10 PM

SPOILER: He’s going to wear a pro-bowl jersey while he drafts/coaches/oversees.

Seriously, if you gobbled this down as meaning Deion is going to suit up and play during the pro-bowl you’re borderline retarded.

  123. hotep999 says: Jan 13, 2014 4:13 PM

I personally appreciate the NFL’s efforts to boost interest in this game vs simply trashing it. Additionally, adding the fantasy football component was brilliant in more ways than one IMO.

  125. jimthebuilder27 says: Jan 13, 2014 4:28 PM

Love football, but I won’t be watching this disgrace of a game.

Triple or quadruple the payout, and make it so the winners get all the money, and the losers get NOTHING. And take MLB’s example, the winning conference gets homefield in the Super Bowl.

  126. bonniebengal says: Jan 13, 2014 4:33 PM

    What a disaster.

  127. adoombray says: Jan 13, 2014 4:34 PM

Sorry guys, not happening. Marty Schottenheimer claimed him on waivers. “The UFL is not mathematically eliminated from occuring again, and I’m just trying to keep our team competetive.”

  128. rjkilla says: Jan 13, 2014 4:37 PM

this alone has made the pro bowl watchable this year. if for nothing else to see deion get burnt

  129. bcgreg says: Jan 13, 2014 4:41 PM

Someone needs to put a Sean Taylor Pro Bowl hit on Deion.

  130. jvw1982 says: Jan 13, 2014 4:41 PM

I will watch if both suit up and only allowed to play each other, both look like they are in good shape, go get him Jerry

Come on, haters. There was no reason to watch the pro bowl before. In fact, if you were planning on watching it I think there may be something wrong with you. I say let ‘em play.

  133. bmore44 says: Jan 13, 2014 4:54 PM

  135. dogman9 says: Jan 13, 2014 5:46 PM

Nobody, and I mean nobody, could run with Deion in his prime. Revis is a better all around CB but not as fast as prime time.

Would love to see Rice line up vs. Deion I bet they both still got it, maybe lost a step or two but not much.

  136. reggiebush25 says: Jan 13, 2014 6:02 PM

That’s all we need now is for CARL LEWIS to sing the National Anthem!!! OH….O

  137. vicvinegar00 says: Jan 13, 2014 6:54 PM

I like it. The current Pro Bowl is a joke that the players don’t even want to play in.

I’d rather see them just name “all-pros” and put together some goofball flag football game with all-pros and legends. Yeah have Deion vs. Rice with Drew Brees throwing it. Maybe the game would be fun to watch. It is basically touch now anyway.

  138. radar8 says: Jan 13, 2014 7:07 PM

The Pro Bowl is a joke. The best players in the league aren’t there, because they’re still in the playoffs.
We used to be able to root for the conference of our choice. They used to have fun competitions for the players the day before the game.

All of that is gone. Now it’s a team of mixed conferences. If you don’t worship Jerry or Diion, it means nothing.

Goodell has ruined the Pro Bowl. There’s absolutely no reason to watch anymore.

Best players? Nope. Root for your conference? Nope. Fun pre0game competition? Nope. Nothing to see at all.

  139. bobsnygiants says: Jan 13, 2014 7:26 PM

that’s why pro bowl is a joke

  140. murraysons says: Jan 13, 2014 7:30 PM

No doubt Deion was one of the greats but come on. He would get smoked by the practice squad at his age

  141. murraysons says: Jan 13, 2014 7:33 PM

Let’s get Dick LeBeau out there to cover the other side and we’ll have a REAL old man’s game

  142. jimmysee says: Jan 13, 2014 7:35 PM

So wait — is this the old timers’ game?

  143. sweetnlow44 says: Jan 13, 2014 7:36 PM

Put Shannon Sharp in there too and hopefully someone can bulldoze his mouth so that he can never talk again.

  144. whodatnhollywood says: Jan 13, 2014 7:42 PM

The Pro Bowl should NOT be about Deion Sanders or Jerry Rice, but about the players who earned their all-star status. I don’t even like the idea of them being involved in the drafting of the players for the game! And having them play in the game makes it more of a sham.

Prime, you are past your prime. Rice too. Let the players who earned their way to Hawaii be the focal point, not two hall of famers trying to re-live their glory years.

What’s next? The 2015 All-Stars vs. the 2000 All-Stars? I don’t know which one I’m sick of more with these former players: ESPN or NFL Network.

    Give us a break!

  145. iamthorny says: Jan 13, 2014 7:45 PM

You could trot Deion out at age 80 and not be able to tell the difference in his tackling skills from his 20’s.

  146. uplate5301 says: Jan 13, 2014 7:47 PM

No worries. Dion’s not going to get hurt. It’s the Pro Bowl. Nobody ever gets hurt in the Pro Bowl, because they don’t actually play football. They just choreograph the game on the fly.

Not that anyone could blame them. Can you imagine trying to explain to your team next year that you can’t practice because you tore your ACL in the Pro Bowl?

  147. polapea says: Jan 13, 2014 7:48 PM

If I’m the coach and that jackass lines up at CB I’m running a bubble screen at him with my biggest WR’s. Guy couldn’t tackle when he actually played, would love to see what he’d do with Megatron bearing down on him. He might actually soil himself.

  148. boomboombrown says: Jan 13, 2014 8:23 PM

Deion never should have been in a Pro Bowl when he was playing!

I hope Adrian Peterson absolutely trucks Deion’s 46 year old frame en route to a long TD run.

So @ 46 years old and in a All-Star Game, you think now is the time Deion tries to tackle someone ???

  155. william1939 says: Jan 14, 2014 2:06 PM

Whomever came up with this idea for selecting the teams is nuts. Part of the fun of the game was pulling for the side that your favorite team’s players were on. Now with them on both sides the fun is gone. Oh well I guess they don’t care about the fans.

  156. Ed Bandell says: Jan 14, 2014 6:15 PM

I could see this as some kind of halftime stunt. One QB, Rice and Sanders one on one. They run a few plays and see what happens.

There is NO way in the world Sanders and Rice get on the field with actual NFL players and play in real game time action. As fake as the Pro Bowl is, injuries do happen. They are not under the NFL, or part of the NFLPA, so there are legal ramifications if something should happen…either they get injured, or they manage to injure somebody.

For all the people who said they wouldn’t pay attention. Guess what, you replied here so mission accomplished. You are paying attention to Deion.

Secondly, not only was Sanders a great football player, but people forget just how good at baseball he was too. He was a VERY good baseball player and had he done that full time he might have been a multi-time all star. He could run down anything in the OF, he hit a lot of doubles and triples, stole a lot of bases. There was room for improvement, but he never was fully committed to the sport…and he was still that good. Most guys put everything they have into the game and never manage to make it.

C’mon, man. That dude’s older than Peyton Manning!

  158. granadafan says: Jan 16, 2014 6:44 PM

He should put an H (for Hall of Fame) at the end of his number to make it 21H, so he doesn’t take away Peterson’s jersey number.

  159. mikebrownistheworstownerinprosports says: Jan 19, 2014 8:01 PM

Man PFT must be loaded with kids and/or haters. Deion was the best cover corner in NFL history. He was also the most sought after free agent in NFL history. He was the piece that put the 49ers (in ’94) and the Cowboys (in ’95) over the top for Superbowl wins. Ever heard the saying “he takes away half the field”? That saying originated with Prime Time. I’m not a 49ers or Cowboys fan either, the dude was just fun to watch.
