Nick Foles is going to the Pro Bowl

With the change to a conference-less format for this year’s Pro Bowl, the results of the AFC playoffs have led to the addition of a quarterback from the NFC to the Pro Bowl roster.

Eagles quarterback Nick Foles will be added to the team with the Broncos and Patriots set to square off in the AFC Championship Game. Tom Brady and Peyton Manning were each selected to the Pro Bowl, which means one will have to drop out in order to prepare for the Super Bowl alongside his teammates. With Russell Wilson trying to get the Seahawks to the Meadowlands as well, there may be another spot opening up at quarterback.

Foles finished the season with 27 touchdowns and two interceptions, a ratio that probably would have gotten him named to the team outright if he had started more than 10 games this season. He joins running back LeSean McCoy as Eagles players on the roster with left tackle Jason Peters bowing out in favor of Texans tackle Duane Brown last week.

Foles won’t be the only alternate called up this week. With Marshawn Lynch and Frank Gore at running back and Logan Mankins and Louis Vasquez at guard, there are two more spots in need of filling before the Super Bowl matchup has been set.
