Bucs to hold second interviews for additional G.M. candidates

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers appear to have a frontrunner in the search for a new general manager in Atlanta Falcons director of player personnel Lionel Vital.

Vital will interview a second time with the Buccaneers on Tuesday. However, a league source told PFT that Vital will not be the only candidate to receive a second interview for the position.

Giants vice president of player evaluation Marc Ross and Tennessee Titans vice president of player personnel Lake Dawson are also thought to still be in consideration for the job vacated by the firing of Mark Dominik two weeks ago.

Dawson has also been sought after by the Miami Dolphins as a candidate for their open general manager position. Dawson interviewed with the Dolphins on Sunday.

If those are the candidates, they can dispense with the Rooney Rule and just lock the four of them in a room together for a few days. Natural selection.

Good luck with that. The new GM is already being told who his coaches are going to be (backwards from how it’s supposed to work)… and given the amount of latitude Lovie Smith was given in Chicago to select talent, all the new GM is basically gonna be doing is phoning in Lovie’s choices on draft day.

Other than the weather in Tampa this is not a plum gig at all. The Glazers are gonna have to settle for whoever is desperate enough to take it.
