K.J. Wright “has a chance” to play against 49ers

The last time K.J. Wright played for the Seattle Seahawks was in the team’s 19-17 loss to the San Francisco 49ers at Candlestick park in December.

However, Wright may be back on the field for Seattle just in time for the rubber match of the season series with the 49ers in the NFC Championship on Sunday afternoon.

Wright has missed the last four games for Seattle after suffering a broken bone in his right foot against the 49ers on Dec. 8. Wright had surgery to repair the injury and has been sidelined ever since.

However, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said Monday that Wright “had a chance” to play this weekend.

KJ Wright has a chance, yeah,” Carroll said. “We’re going to take a look at him on Wednesday. He ran well today and over the weekend. So today, he ran and he’ll get a rest day tomorrow and then he’ll come back out Wednesday and we’ll see where he is. He has a chance. We’re excited about that for him.”

Wright had been playing his best football before the injury. His size and speed helped Seattle limit Jimmy Graham in their first matchup with the New Orleans Saints in December. His return could provide a better matchup for handling 49ers’ tight end Vernon Davis this weekend as well.

Wright started 13 games for Seattle before the injury. He recorded 80 tackles with 1.5 sacks and four passes defensed on the season.

And Vernon likes the way KJ Wright handles him WAY more than Kam Chancellor!

As is the case with many pretenders, the Seahacks are a regular season team that peaks to early.

But come playoffs their true colors emerge (not just that seizure inducing neon green) and they flounder cementing their legacy as a perennial loser.

KJ was playing great football, it wasn’t just the Graham shut down but the way he was playing the run and offenses couldn’t throw a screen on him.

Malcom Smith is playing well but just doesn’t play as sound or have the 6’4 size of KJ Wright.

Important tackler. I hope we get him back.

Wait a minute. Jimmy Graham has just one reception for eight yards on Saturday. Who covered him then.
God, the Seahawks have an endless supply of talent.

KJ is huge in the run game, he is a better player than Malcolm Smith, as good as Malcolm is.

KJ went out early in that game and I thought at the time, that it could really hurt. Sure enough late in the game Gore got lose on a 54 yd run that wouldn’t have happened with KJ in there. The cost them a ball game they shouldn’t have lost. I’m betting they wouldn’t have lost to Cards 2 weeks later either.
