Working with Andrew Luck keeps turning out to be a solid career decision for Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN.com, Hamilton has become a candidate for the head coaching position at Vanderbilt University after the departure of James Franklin to Penn State University.

Hamilton served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Stanford University for Luck’s senior season in 2011. After Bruce Arians left the Colts to take the head coaching job with the Arizona Cardinals last offseason, Hamilton followed Luck to Indianapolis as the Colts’ offensive coordinator.

Hamilton was just a position coach at Stanford, coaching wide receivers, until being promoted to offensive coordinator in 2011. It’s been a fast progression for Hamilton ever since and he may now find himself in line for a head coaching opportunity just three years later.

Under Hamilton’s direction, Luck threw for 3,822 yards this season with 23 touchdowns and nine interception as the Colts won the AFC South and advanced to the divisional round of the playoffs last weekend.
