Carlos Rogers thinks he’ll play on Sunday

The 49ers haven’t missed a beat the last two weeks with cornerback Carlos Rogers out of the lineup because of a hamstring injury, but they’d certainly like to have anyone healthy enough to help them on the field against the Seahawks in the NFC Championship Game.

According to Rogers, there’s a good chance of that happening. Rogers said Tuesday that he has increased his running and Matthew Barrows of the Sacramento Bee reported that he was walking without a limp before addressing his chances of being in the lineup.

“I think I’m going [to play],” Rogers said. “You know, it depends on how practice goes. No setbacks and I’ll be out there.”

Rogers has expressed optimism at points in the last two weeks, but hasn’t been able to practice at all. Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said last week Rogers will need to practice to play and that he may not return to the starting lineup if the 49ers feel he’s not up to the full workload. Perrish Cox has filled in for Rogers in the slot with Tarell Brown and Tramaine Brock on the outside.
