Jets special teams coach interviews with Redskins

New York Jets v Buffalo Bills AP

With coaching staffs in flux league-wide, assistants are looking for as much security as they can find.

So while the Jets work on an extension for head coach Rex Ryan, one of his assistants is looking around.

According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, Jets special teams coordinator Ben Kotwica interviewed with the Redskins Tuesday for the same spot on Jay Gruden’s staff.

Kotwica isn’t under contract for 2014, but the Jets have offered him a new deal.

Improving the Redskins’ special teams wouldn’t be hard, as disaster might be too generous of a description of their kicking game in 2013.

Kotwica also interviewed for the head coaching job at Army this offseason.

It’d be a step down so they’d better give him a good bonus.

Might not be the best choice outside of nick folk the jets special teams were bad in 2014. Why not go after mike westhoff on second though westhoff for HC then again maybe the jets should have made him HC.

I don’t know if this guy is any good, but it doesn’t really matter– I’ve been pushing for my four-year old daughter for the Redskins ST coach all year because A) she would be a heck of a lot better than Keith Burns, and B) it would be adorable. Point is, a tree stump with a Pee wee football coaching manual nailed to it would be a major upgrade for the Redskins Special teams unit.
