With coaching staffs in flux league-wide, assistants are looking for as much security as they can find.

So while the Jets work on an extension for head coach Rex Ryan, one of his assistants is looking around.

According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, Jets special teams coordinator Ben Kotwica interviewed with the Redskins Tuesday for the same spot on Jay Gruden’s staff.

Kotwica isn’t under contract for 2014, but the Jets have offered him a new deal.

Improving the Redskins’ special teams wouldn’t be hard, as disaster might be too generous of a description of their kicking game in 2013.

Kotwica also interviewed for the head coaching job at Army this offseason.
