No Wednesday practice at all for Tom Brady

NFL: Divisional Round-Indianapolis Colts at New England Patriots Reuters

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady missed the start of practice.  And the middle of practice.  And the end of practice.

Yes, Brady didn’t practice at all, per multiple reports coming from multiple players who risked the Wrath of Belichick by saying anything more about Brady than “day-to-day.”

Backup Ryan Mallett, the only other quarterback on the roster or practice squad, took the snaps with the Patriots offense and also did the scout-team “Omaha” thing, pretending to be Peyton Manning.

Multiple reports indicate that Brady will start on Sunday, despite his absence from practice.  We’ll know the specific reason for his absence when the Patriots release their initial injury report.

They are sneaky. Yeah, sure … Tom’s “day-to-day”

Not a big deal. On an aside, I wonder how Von Miller is enjoying the newly legalized pot in Colorado.

How vague can Hoodie make the injury report?

Hope he is okay. Tough time to get sick, if that is what it is.

Big Ben is the better QB.

  6. weepingjebus says: Jan 15, 2014 2:14 PM

After the season he’ll casually remark that he has 3 broken ribs or something, like he did a few years ago. He’s tougher than people think.

  10. usdcoyotesfan says: Jan 15, 2014 2:18 PM

NFL Network says it’s because of illness. And yet Aaron Rodgers is soft for missing time with a broken collarbone.

The Injury Report just came out:

    T Brady – Probable – butthurt.

Let us help you out from New England, both Brady and Aiken are out sick today as has been reported by multiple media outlets. Give Tom Curran a call.

Somehow I believe he will be very well taken care of.

  13. harrisonhits2 says: Jan 15, 2014 2:26 PM

The local homer press is reporting he was sent home sick.

I mean at this point making this a headline is equivalent to making a headline about the sky being blue. Brady is playing on Sunday, he might have an injury (probably the same shoulder problem he’s had for 40 years) which just needs a little rest. Not downplaying the injury, it could be serious, but saying it won’t affect his status, and Brady won’t use it as an excuse.

Boston sports radio says he called in sick; guess he’s human, after all, huh? Maybe he booked off because it’s a friggin beach day around here and he wanted to chillax; who cares?

Rumor, remember I said rumor, here in MA is that Tom has the Flu…

If so, it would explain why they don’t want him around the rest of the team…Hence his absents from practice…

  23. ampats says: Jan 15, 2014 2:48 PM

Based on recent reports he also stopped at Sports Authority on his way home to buy some ATV helmets

  24. azarkhan says: Jan 15, 2014 2:49 PM

    He’ll practice on Sunday.

  25. datmr says: Jan 15, 2014 2:49 PM

Late for practice? Put him on IR. “The Patriot way”. Can’t wait to see Manning put a 50-burger on their smug asses this week end.

  26. marcuswelby70 says: Jan 15, 2014 2:51 PM

You’re the best Belichick, just keep p*!sing off the press. I love it!!!!!

The flu is nasty this year. Hope it’s not that.

  28. 6ball says: Jan 15, 2014 3:02 PM

    .

Throughout the season Brady often has no practice or a limited practice schedule on Wednesdays.

If Billy Volek can outduel Peyton “Fivehead” Manning, so can Ryan Mallett.

rather have TB of course, though….

  30. whatnojets says: Jan 15, 2014 3:02 PM

Give him a one game suspension for failing to show up for practice!!

  31. 69finfan says: Jan 15, 2014 3:16 PM

    Practice, we talkin bout practice?

  32. slew55 says: Jan 15, 2014 3:18 PM

NE is doing their own version of “Omaha” trying to get in the Broncos heads, it doesn’t mean anything.

  33. timcast12 says: Jan 15, 2014 3:18 PM

I wonder if the Patriots still Spygate… Most likely

  35. patsfan1820 says: Jan 15, 2014 4:20 PM

He will be there Sunday so who cares? Would not be surprised if Peyton took a day off too.

  36. gmsalpha says: Jan 15, 2014 4:23 PM

I want Brady to be perfectly healthy and in peak form, so that we can see a classic matchup this weekend.

It wouldn’t really be the same to see Manning vs Brady (Brady vs Manning?) with one of them not bringing their A-game.

He’ll be fine. Nothing to see here. Move along.
