Dallas Clark doesn’t know if he’ll play in 2014

When Dallas Clark opened the season with seven catches for 87 yards in the first week, it seemed that the Ravens had found a useful piece to take the place of the injured Dennis Pitta in their passing game.

Things didn’t really turn out that way, though. Clark caught 24 passes over the rest of the season and then wound up as a healthy scratch for the final four weeks of the regular season with Pitta back in the lineup. Clark turns 35 in June and he’ll be spending some of the time between now and his birthday to figure out if that will be his last hurrah in the NFL.

“I don’t know right now,” Clark said on SiriusXM NFL Radio with Alex Marvez and Gil Brandt. “The body feels great. It’s just got be the right situation. Being the third down guy, just coming in on third down, that’s tough. I love being a bigger part of the game plan and things like that. It’s just gotta be the right situation, we’ll see what happens.”

Clark was unemployed into August last year before the Ravens signed him and there wasn’t much about his 2013 performance to suggest that people will be clamoring for his services this time around. An injury or otherwise unexpected shortfall at the position could lead a team to look in Clark’s direction, but the right situation will likely otherwise elude him this offseason.

    That’s ok, he didn’t play in 2013.

He’s still a good player, if you can get past the fact that his first name is synonymous with mediocrity.

I really liked Dallas Clark & I hope he decides to play. I’m sorry he didn’t get used the way he should have been. I would definitely not mind him staying a RAVEN. Whatever he decides, I wish him all the best

Ryan Clark sure doesn’t want Clark to return. Clark burned him for a 4th quarter TD that was nothing short of sweet.

I want him to stay and sign a 3 year extension.
