Jason Hatcher added to Pro Bowl roster

Defensive tackle Jason Hatcher is set to become a free agent come March, but he’ll have one more chance to wear a Cowboys helmet even if he doesn’t wind up re-signing with the team.

Hatcher broke the word that he has been added to the Pro Bowl roster on Twitter on Thursday afternoon. He’ll be taking the place of Ravens defensive tackle Haloti Ngata in this year’s conference-free approach to the game. Ngata was bothered by a variety of injuries over the course of the season, missing one game as a result.

Hatcher missed a game because of injury as well, but that didn’t stop him from putting up a strong season in his eighth year with the Cowboys. He had a career high 11 sacks and forced a pair of fumbles on the interior of the defensive line, which made him a rare bright spot on a unit that struggled for much of the season.

While Hatcher should have suitors off such a strong year, the fact that he turns 32 in July will likely keep him from landing the kind of contract he would have gotten if he’d done the same thing five years away.
