The Jets are reportedly retaining multiple assistant coaches with expiring deals for 2014.

According to ESPNNewYork.com’s Rich Cimini, assistant head coach/running backs coach Anthony Lynn will return next season.

Lynn, 45, has been on Rex Ryan’s coaching staff since 2009.

Also, defensive line coach Karl Dunbar tweeted Saturday that he would be back with the Jets in 2014. The 46-year-old Dunbar joined the Jets in 2012 after six seasons in Minnesota.

Cimimi also reports that defensive coordinator Dennis Thurman is also likely to be back on the Jets’ staff in 2014. Thurman, 57, has been on Ryan’s coaching staff for the previous five seasons.

    Wow Dunbar has coached defensively for both the Vikings and Jets and no one has made him a DC yet?!

    @deltaoracle

    Don’t know if you’re being sarcastic but Dunbar is an excellent DL coach.

    He has a skin condition…I believe its called vitiligo. It’s basically a lack of pigment in the skin.

    if you are referring to the variances in skin pigmentation it is a condition called vitiligo….

    I bet you were that kid in the grocery store that pointed at anyone with a birthmark or visible physical defect and screamed “Mommy! What’s wrong with them?”

    Dunbar is THE best in the business and Lynn isn’t too shabby himself. Looks like they are keeping all the right guys and hopefully the other position coaches are either retained or upgraded. Continuity is a must but there is always room for improvement. We could really use a better WR coach to go with some new WR’s!!!

    I didn’t even know Dunbar was with the Jets, because I’m so used to him on the Vikings sideline. Him being gone could account for how crappy the Vikings D-line looked for most of the season.

    Stability- What every franchise needs, first Jets GM to realize this.
