Buccaneers hire George Warhop as offensive line coach

The Buccaneers have added the Browns’ longest-tenured assistant to their coaching staff.

The club announced the hiring of George Warhop as offensive line coach on Saturday. Warhop, 52, had coached the Browns’ offensive linemen since 2009, and he had worked under three different head coaches: Eric Mangini (2009-2010), Pat Shurmur (2011-2012) and Rob Chudzinski (2013).

Before joining Cleveland, Warhop had stints as an offensive line coach with the 49ers (2005-2008), Cowboys (2003-2004) and Cardinals (1998-2002). He was also the Rams’ assistant offensive line coach in 1996 and 1997.

The Browns fired Chudzinski 20 days ago. His successor will have to find replacements for multiple assistants who have departed, including defensive coordinator Ray Horton, who has taken the same position in Tennessee.

Sounds like the last assistant out of Cleveland needs to shut off the lights. By the time the Browns get a new head coach, it will be hard to fill in the rest of their staff. A lot of good assistants have already been taken.

Any chance he brings Mack and/or Thomas with him?

His pedigree is Mangini, Shurmer, and Chudzinski. What could possibly go wrong?

HOF Bill Parcells thought enough of him to hire him in Dallas.

Wasn’t there 2 pro bowlers on that line in Cleveland?? It’s not like their QB’s were running for their lives!!! I would say its a solid hire for Tampa.
