Schottenheimer won’t be leaving for Vanderbilt

Rams fans, we’ve got good news and bad news.  Actually, it’s good news or bad news, depending on one’s perspective.

Offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer won’t be leaving.  He recently interviewed for the head-coaching position at Vanderbilt.  But the job has gone to Stanford defensive coordinator Derek Mason.

As a result, Schottenheimer apparently will be back for a third season.

Despite some internal grumblings early in the season, Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch points out that the Rams scored their most total points since 2006.  That said, the Rams averaged only 13.2 in six games this year against the NFC West.

He probably couldn’t even get the Browns’ job.

Let’s face it: Brian Schottenheimer’s in the league because his dad’s a big wheel in coaching circles. If his name were Brian Oppenheimer, he’d be an assistant WRs coach at Mississippi Valley State.

Bob knight talking to any famous guys son: “you got a long way to go to be as good as your dad. Keep that in mind.”

That sucks, he’s got zero creativity with his play design and play calling.

At least you know Mason can recruit smart kids who can actually get in to Vandy on their own.

when word came out he interviewed I had a glimmer of hope now its dashed …just like my hopes that we will run a creative play every once in awhile, like one per quarter would be nice!!

Regardless, Rams were on the up & up this season. You don’t hear anyone talking about the weak NFC West anymore.
