Report: Tom Brady had ligament damage in his hand in October

Remember when it looked like Tom Brady’s had one of those hands that a cartoon character tried to inflate while blowing air into his thumb?

Despite Brady consistently pooh-poohing the notion that anything was amiss and the Patriots not disclosing a hand injury, the images captured as he tried to slip the appendage into a warming device showed that the thing he uses to throw footballs was swollen.

And it wasn’t just a bruise.  According to Albert Breer of NFL Network, Brady had ligament damage in his hand.  While it healed without surgery, Brady had to play through it.

He did, and Brady did it well.  Now, he stands 60 minutes away from his sixth Super Bowl appearance.  Given the adversity that he and the team overcame this year, it could be his most impressive performance yet.

Cheating again, not disclosing injury. Fine and take picks.

    Keep calm, and Brady on.

Or, this is preemptive damage control in case the Patriots lose.

    Brady is the best ever.
I’m a Bills fan, and a closet Pats fan.

Awwwe poor Tommie. I hope he gets the ligament ripped out of his hand today. This that too much to ask?

And the Ben Roethlisberger award for dramatizing an injury goes to….

He’s got the whole offseason to heal – starting at 6:30 tonight.

I still don’t understand how you can hate this guy.

Dude has been the MVP for over a decade. He’s the guy everyone wants to take down today. Manning despite his great success and talent, is pitched as, the Lovable Loser. A lot of people have a soft spot for that but it shows deep down what we all know. Brady is the best. No shame in that. Manning is a great QB but I’ll always believe Brady was the overall betted QUARTERBACK.!

Like Scott Zolak said ………… that’s our quarterback

Nice try Pats fan. No REAL Bills fan would ever say that. That is like being a Yankees fan and saying they also love Ortiz.

Pre-Released Excuse (since tom brady and patriots fans can’t blame Wes Welker).

Isn’t Manning playing with a metal neck?

Manning caddies for Brady in the offseason

    Yeah, him and Kellen Winslow.

Just another excuse when they lose again.

  18. micknangold says: Jan 19, 2014 3:53 PM

    Brady isn’t better than Manning.

Maybe he’ll lead the Pats offense on their first game winning touchdown of his career in the playoffs… Luck has half as many regular season comebacks in two years as Brady has in his career. Another season without a Super Bowl win since spygate… Nice division.

Ligament damage is not worth it

  23. swagger52 says: Jan 19, 2014 5:17 PM

Ravens were fined for less of an injury to Ed Reed which they never reported.

Suggs was right…Different rules for the Patriots

And the great Tom Brady and the greatest Billicheat go down in defeat!

  25. russrpm says: Jan 19, 2014 6:25 PM

It was reported that the league would be investigating the Cowboys for not reporting Romo’s back injury. I hope there is at least same level of interest now that the Patriots are involved. (Again!)

  26. annes22 says: Jan 19, 2014 6:37 PM

Who cares now, he’s going home. He didn’t play very well today, over throwing everyone.
Bye Tommy boy have a nice vacation.

  27. jcday1126 says: Jan 19, 2014 6:41 PM

He didn’t look to impressive today.

  28. melikefootball says: Jan 19, 2014 6:47 PM

No wonder Bill I Cheat has to cheat with all the player hurt. How many times do we have to hear about the players hurt in NE. Building up for the defeat again.

  29. marima07 says: Jan 19, 2014 9:22 PM

    There’s no one tougher.

He has played with a fever of a 103 degrees, fractured ribs, fractured fingers, ankle sprains and never, ever complains. Why? Because he knows his linemen and teammates are all playing with various injuries too.

  30. doggeatdogg says: Jan 19, 2014 10:20 PM

Who is leaking the injury to the press now? Who cares? For what? Sympathy. Every team was hit by the injury bug. The Patriots had a weak defense and a lackluster offense. They got lucky on Brady’s and Belicheck’s back. No need to say anymore. They should keep the finger injury to themselves like they always do.

  31. mackie66 says: Jan 20, 2014 4:25 AM

Why would any team report injuries?

  32. One for the thumb says: Nov 11, 2015 10:02 PM

Unnamed sources are the worst. Meanwhile a year and a half later teams are admitting to cheating the injury report and the NFL isn’t doing anything about it.
