Lionel Vital to stay with Falcons after interviewing with Bucs

The Falcons are hanging onto one of their personnel men, who drew interest from a division rival.

Falcons director of player personnel Lionel Vital told D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal Constitution he was staying with the Falcons.

“I’m staying with the Falcons,” Vital said, showing an economy of language an ability to get right to the point.

Vital interviewed twice for the Buccaneers vacant General Manager post.

Others in the running for that job include Giants vice president of player evaluation Marc Ross and Titans vice president of player personnel Lake Dawson.

No offense to Lovie Smith but I’m sure it doesn’t help things that the new GM in Tampa will have no say over who the coach is that is supposedly reporting to him.

Bucs got the hiring order backwards and in the process knocked out a lot of the most qualified GM candidates who simply aren’t gonna walk into a situation like that.

Yes, it’s actually “that” bad to work for the Bucs with the Glazers as owners!

He’ll stay until he is recalled to Remulak.

Hilarious. I was going to post something about the GM until I read, “Remulak” and looked back at the photo.
