T.J. Ward replaces Troy Polamalu on Pro Bowl roster

A sixth Browns representative is headed to the Pro Bowl.

Strong safety T.J. Ward has been added to the Pro Bowl roster, the Browns announced Monday night.

Ward takes the place of Steelers strong safety Troy Polamalu, who is missing the game because of injury, the Browns said.

This is Ward’s first trip to the Pro Bowl. The fourth-year Oregon product notched 112 tackles, defended six passes and intercepted two passes in 16 starts for Cleveland in 2013.

Tight end Jordan Cameron, wide receiver Josh Gordon, cornerback Joe Haden, center Alex Mack and left tackle Joe Thomas are slated to be the Browns’ other Pro Bowl attendees.

Now if they could just find somebody to coach all those Pro Bowlers. . .

Is Troy gonna retire? He should probably stick with shampoo commercials these days. Past his prime.

They should add a few more players from the team picking 4th in the draft is Bess allowed to play ? because he gets my vote

The one year he would rather not go too. He is inline for a big payday. I think he should sit this one out. Say thanks but no thanks.

Whats the total tally of “pro bowlers” up to now? Like a third of the league?

Seriously, if you could keep a running track, it would be sweet

WoW when is the last time the Browns had that many Pro Bowlers?

… i still cringe thinking about ward’s hit on Gronk that ended his season…

Watch out for your knees NFC.

My guess is that 2 of these guys are left to test the market (aka sign elsewhere). It’d only make sense with this FO and ownership.

(meaning Mack and Ward for those of you that don’t know the Browns FAs)

Congrats, T.J.! Should’ve been going in the first place!

Troy Polamalu is yet another case of someone being voted to the roster for previous years work rather than being elected for what he did during the current year’s work…

Saints Grubbs and Evans also shouldn’t have been elected when Eagles Evan Mathis was left off…

Nick Foles should have been selected before politically correct choices Cam Newton and Russel Wilson (and by the way, why do we need more than four quarterbacks selected?!?)…

And how Bills’ ILB Kiko Alonso, CB Saints’ Keenan Lewis, and the other kids’ DT Muhammad Wilkerson weren’t elected is absurd…

This dude is going to want a truck load of money. No way he’s getting it from the Browns. He’s gone.

  16. coltsreign says: Jan 21, 2014 6:49 AM

He did the league a favor by knocking gronk out

  17. ravenswhat says: Jan 21, 2014 7:09 AM

Troy couldn’t make it because he’s getting his hair did that day.

6 pro bowlers from one team that only got 4 wins. Sorry but this pretty much justifies firing their coach (since obviously it wasn’t lack of talent hurting the team). Imagine how many wins they would have had if Chud wasn’t determined to play Weeden and bury their best QB as 3rd string.

Even a Porche can’t win a race with a mini van if the driver doesn’t know how to use a stick. This team is my pick to win the AFC north in 2014 since its pretty obvious 2013 was a one season tryout for the team while they stockpiled draft picks and cap money to replace non contributers.

The entire league gets pro bowl candidates and the Browns land 5 +1. Since they had a 4 win season with multiple blown forth quarter leads, the firing of Chud has just been justified. Take your time and make it right.

What a disgrace, TJ Ward of the Browns, who took out Gronk with a cheap shot, is in the Pro Bowl. Guess I won’t be watching. You might want to send your game check to Gronk.

What’s incredible with all these pro bowlers and all pro’s with my Browns is Tony Grossi has reported the odds of Banner resigning Mack and Ward are miniscule. That is why Banner is a cap guy and shouldn’t be a personnel guy. You build a team up the middle and now he wants to let your All Pro center and All Pro Safety walk?

Bring back Chud and fire Banner !!

He was diagnosed with “can’t play football anymore syndrome.”

They don’t even try to cover or tackle anyone at the Pro Bowl. Now that I think of it, the entire Raven’s secondary should have gone, looked like they practiced that style of defense every week.

  24. axespray says: Jan 21, 2014 4:58 PM

    Firing Chud justified?

Meanwhile – teams like the Colts/Vikings/Packers/Seahawks/49ers went nowhere when their QB either went down or before they got their QB.

Anyone remember the Tavaris Jackson led hawks?

Well deserved and won’t be his first.
