Titans make Ray Horton hiring official

The Titans have hired Browns defensive coordinator Ray Horton to the same position, the club said Monday evening.

The hiring was expected.

In Horton’s lone season overseeing the Browns’ defense, Cleveland finished ninth in yards allowed per game (332.4) and third in yards allowed per play (4.80).

In Tennessee, the 53-year-old Horton will work again with Titans head coach Ken Whisenhunt, his former colleague on the Pittsburgh and Arizona coaching staffs. Horton was the Cardinals’ defensive coordinator in Whisenhunt’s final two seasons as head coach in Arizona (2011, 2012).

He always builds solid D’s. Don’t know how he does in interviews, but he’d be on my list if I was looking for a head coach.

He did great in Browns Town, & that was with a front office that is not up to NFL standards

Here’s hoping they have the same success they had their last two years in Arizona. . .

I’m ready to see Zach Brown and Zaviar Gooden get after the QB off the edge. Amazing speed.

Bottom line.. he was 28th in wins.

Or 4th in losses. That sounds better.

    Stats. SMH.

    Good hire!

Horton did a really good job in Cleveland, stats bare that out.

Some Naysayers will say the D would give up in the 4th qtr but, once the 3 Stooges started meddling with the coaching, the whole team gave up. Also, the D spent so much time on the field, I think they simply were worn down.

Ray Horton is a class act and this Browns “fan” wishes him well.

If the Browns fired their head coach and are allowing the other coaches to interview and leave while under contract what does that tell you? They know who they are getting and who that guy is bringing.

Big Browns fan here, I felt the defense played great, the D coordinator is a great hire by the titans, the browns just have bad owners… the Defense got tired, when u can see the offense just cant play… so why try that hard when the front office keeps pointing to next year… i dont blame them for folding at the end there.
