Reports: Browns interviewed Greg Schiano on Wednesday

Add Greg Schiano to the list of candidates the Browns have interviewed for their head-coaching vacancy.

According to, the Browns met with Schiano, the former Buccaneers’ coach, on Wednesday.

Alex Marvez of confirmed news of the Browns’ interview with Schiano, whom the Buccaneers fired on December 30.

The Buccaneers were 11-21 in Schiano’s two seasons as head coach. The 2013 Buccaneers quickly fell out of contention, losing their first eight games. Though Tampa Bay picked up its play in the second half of the season, it wasn’t enough to save the jobs of Schiano and G.M. Mark Dominik.

The Browns fired head coach Rob Chudzinski on December 29. They have twice met with Bills defensive coordinator Mike Pettine. Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn has also been linked to the job.

UPDATE 9:03 p.m. ET: Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal and Ian Rapoport of all report that Schiano will not be hired by Cleveland. However, Jason La Canfora of reports that Schiano is a candidate.

As a bills fan this Cleveland organization is a huge joke, your doing nothing but impeding our progress with our coach. Not sure if Pettine is HC material but if the front office like him for Petes sake hire him so we can move on this is what the third interview maybe Rex Ryan and the jets should move aside and let cleveland move into the clown car

As a long-time Bucs fan, I will tell the people of Cleveland, you DO NOT want this guy! He is the least competent coach in NFL history. He belongs at a Junior College, not in the NFL. You will never have a winner with this loser as head coach. Good luck.
