The first candidate to get a second interview for the Dolphins’ general manager position is an in-house candidate.

Dolphins Assistant General Manager Brian Gaine had his second interview with owner Steve Ross, the team has announced.

Gaine has been the Dolphins’ assistant G.M. for a year and a half. He’s been an NFL personnel man for 15 years, with prior stints working for the Cowboys and Jets.

The Dolphins have been looking for a new general manager for three weeks, since the team and Jeff Ireland parted ways.

Brian’s interview was right after Caseiro’s. He had to let himself into the room and found the interviewers huddled in a corner. One of them ran to the door looked down the hallway in both directions, then locked it behind him.

For the sake of continuity I can understand making Gaine interview just like everybody else but a second interview…….REALLY? You have worked side by side with this guy for a few years now. Either hire him or move on. A second interview should be just a formality and a contract offer for an internal employee.

If he gets the job, he’ll be the new dolphins gm.

It would be more succinct at this point to mention the people who HAVEN’T interviewed for the Dolphins’ GM job.

Anyone else take a passing glance at this and thought it said Blaine Gabbert gets second interview?

If they pick this guy, the season is over before it begins. The whole organization would be in lame duck status (one would hope). I have to think that Bill Lazor only took the OC job because Ross told him “look, this whole franchise is on the hot seat next year; if they win, everyone stays, and if they lose but the offense is half decent, you’re the new head coach.”

Or maybe they will shock the world and land a really good candidate for GM. But I’m not holding my breath.

No offense to Gaine, but if he gets hired this is a huge letdown for Ross and the Dolphins. I’m sure they wouldn’t of seeked out all those other canidates if they thought highly of Gaine.

I can not believe it has taken this long to hire a GM. The problem with this franchise is the owner he is a complete moron. Since he has taken ownership this organization has become one of the worst. He has done nothing above board he is a snake in the grass. Until we get a knew owner we will live as Dolphin fans with a team that underachieve’s year after year.
