New Chargers offensive coordinator Frank Reich will have a familiar target working with him next year.

According to Michael Gehlken of U-T San Diego, the Chargers are hiring Pete Metzelaars as their new tight ends coach.

Metzelaars and Reich were teammates with the Bills for 10 seasons (1985-1994). Metzelaars played 16 years in the NFL, also playing for the Seahawks, Panthers and Lions.

He replaces Jason Michael, who left to become offensive coordinator for the Titans. The Chargers only need a quarterbacks coach to complete their staff.
