Darren Sharper’s lawyer says woman went “willingly”

The attorney for former NFL safety Darren Sharper said Friday that the woman accusing him of rape followed him to his apartment “willingly,” and that there was no evidence of a sexual assault.

Via┬áNaomi Martin of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, defense attorney Nandi Campbell released a statement suggesting the lack of evidence was highlighted by the fact he hasn’t been charged or arrested.

“No evidence suggests or implies that a sexual assault occurred,” Campbell said. “The totality of the witnesses’ statements and the physical evidence support the police department and district attorney’s decision not to file criminal charges at this time.”

A police report which accused Sharper of having non-consensual sex was released today, and the police have made statements saying the investigation is ongoing.

Sharper has also been accused of rape in a separate case in Los Angeles, and has been suspended from his job at the NFL Network since.

The Packers must have had a clinic back in the day on how to woo the ladies… Mark Chmura, Brett Favre, Darren Sharper… allegedly.

If someone hasn’t been charged, and there might not be enough evidence to charge them, the only purpose in releasing the report is to smear them.

I know the local newpaper requested (or sued) to get the report made public, but it just seems like the intent it to smear him.

Just because Darren had to take her up the elevator to his aparment on a luggage cart didn’t mean she wasn’t into it.

Just because a woman goes “willingly” into your place doesn’t mean they’re obligated to have sex with you…because of the implication Still though, the way chicks are these days, you never know.

If accused of rape once I could see that it may be a false accusation…if it happens again I start smelling smoke.

I would suspect even more coming out as the women will want to be in it before the bank closes.

    Yeah, Roethlisburger was innocent too.

And Ray never ditched a white suit.

Let’s see if there are other stupid women who will consent to go home with him… Can’t believe this last one did. She ought to know who he is and what he allegedly did before. Sometimes you wonder…

I can buy that story if it was an isolated event. But when you have multiple, I will repeat multiple sexual assault allegations at the same time, from women 2000 miles apart, it becomes a much harder defense, just saying

It would be one hell of a coincidence that a bunch of girls, who dont know one another, all woke up one day and decided they were going to track down Darren Sharper so they could accuse him of rape…

At least he wasn’t caught in a parking lot with an erection and two open jars of vaseline.

Willingly? Yeah right look at that guy.

  17. tremoluxman says: Jan 24, 2014 10:28 PM

A guy as good looking, famous, and wealthy as Sharper should only have to chase women away with a stick, not hit them over the head to have his way with them.

This is one of 3 accusations of sexual assault he’s being investigated for in a relatively short period of time… so he’s gonna have a hard time convincing anyone he’s been falsely accused a series of times.

Pick magnet… Let’s sit and watch as he picks his next victims…
But yeah, this will end up like tiger woods, bunch of woman who you can’t prove he raped will claim so, and will be believed, because you know, not like they need to prove it, look no further than the Atlanta linebacker… everyone will be grabbing their shovels to dig for cash outta his pockets haha…

Even if the alleged victim went to his apartment “willingly,” that is immaterial to the consent required to engage in sexual activity.
