Matt Prater misses another practice with minor illness

Broncos kicker Matt Prater missed his second straight practice with an illness, but there’s no cause for alarm in Denver.

John Fox said he kept Prater home in part to let him recover and in part so he didn’t spread his sickness to anyone else, but either way, Fox said Prater should be fine in plenty of time for the Super Bowl.

“A combination of both, like most sick players. We sent him to the doc. They deal with it, give him medication. He’ll be fine,” Fox said, via

Prater has gone 5-for-6 on field goals in the playoffs and booted all 12 of his kickoffs for touchbacks. A major question in the Super Bowl will be whether Prater can keep kicking them deep when he’s not benefiting from Denver’s elevation.

Have you watched this season? Prater led the league in touchbacks not just because of the home games. Half the games are played out of Denver last I checked

Prater is gonna be a weapon Seattle does not match. Their kicker can’t hit long field goals…especially in windy met life

Won’t matter if he plays or not, Seattle will be successful this time around in the SB. Manning is no Big Ben.

lol everyone acts like Prater can’t kick a 50 yard FG unless he’s in Denver. How bout try watching him kick FG’s during pregame warmups? The guy practices from 65-70 all the time…

Prater’s nickname should be “The Guy Who Kicked All Those Game-Winning FG’s that made Tim Tebow famous”.

Good luck to Prater. Go UCF!

I don’t think he’ll forget how to kick in a week if he doesn’t practice.
