The Seahawks have allowed two passers to exceed 300 yards all season.

Peyton Manning, meanwhile, has thrown for more than 300 yards in 13-of-18 combined regular-season and postseason starts.

What we have here is a compelling matchup — and the ingredients for the sort of proposition bet Nevada sports books love to post this time of year.

In numbers released Friday, oddsmaker William Hill U.S. set Manning’s Super Bowl yardage at 323.5. Bettors can either take Manning to throw for more or less than the posted yardage.

Back on September 29, Texans quarterback Matt Schaub threw for 355 yards in a wild 23-20 overtime loss to Seattle. That’s the high-water mark for passing yards against the Seahawks this season. Only one other quarterback — the Saints’ Drew Brees — has exceeded 300 gross passing yards against Seattle.

Manning, for the record, has averaged 339.3 yards in his starts this season.

Outside of the on-field matchup, there’s the matter of the weather in New Jersey on Super Sunday.

  1. Hammer the Under. The playing conditions will resemble something like the Donner Party experienced in the 19th century.

  2. Manning is great and 325 yards does sound fair… but don’t forget: Drew Brees had over 125 yards passing in the 4th quarter because was playing from behind and had to try to put up two quick scores. But honestly I think Manning could really have a game like he had in New England (150 yards passing or so, two touchdowns). Put me down for a 4th quarter pick-6 by Richard Sherman he is will unanimously be the Super Bowl MVP.

  3. Anyone remember what happened to “Air Coryell” and the high-flying Chargers aerial attack of 1981 tried to compete in Cincy in January of ’82?

Dump all your couch cushion money on the Under? I can’t believe that number is so high. 323 yards passing??? Stop the insanity — the bookies are printing free money.

  4. Wow, your all idiots! Peyton will be lucky to get more than 100. Seattle is the best city in America by far and has the hottest and greatest team in the nfl. Vikings are a joke, actually all other teams are inferior compared to the hawks. Haters are morons!
    GO HAWKS!!!

  5. I’m not so certain the weather is going to hurt them that much. This offense is all about the YAC. A lot of bubble screens and rub routes underneath. The Seattle defense may slow them down but I’m not thinking the weather will.

  6. Drew threw for 300 in a driving rain with 30 mph wind. No matter how much snow or cold they have it will not be as hard as that game.

The saints skill players are good but the broncos are great. The Seahawks are in for a long day. Bet the over.

  7. Not happening. The temps will be brutal and he isn’t mobile enough to keep that Seahawk defense honest.

Kaepernick had only 283 total yards and that was because he ran for 130 of them.

Take the under and the Hawks.

  8. The weather isn’t going to be a factor at all, simply because Manning has been a pro long enough to have seen, AND PLAYED IN every type of weather condition, and so he knows how to prepare for it. Also, it is more than likely that he has put up over 300 yards against every team in the NFL that he has played against, at one time or another. It is also quite possible that Peyton Manning will retire with a very large percentage of the populous considering him the greatest quarterback of all time. All of that being said, IF his O-line gives him the protection that he needs, IMO, it won’t be squat for him to chuck it for at least 300. He’s got the experience, (including the Super Bowl stage), he’s definitely got the savvy and the swagger, (but he’s humble about it). Peyton Manning is also a very smart, possibly the smartest QB ever…the kind of “comes along once in a generation” quarterback that can routinely throw a 300+ yard game. I’ll stick with the over, AND Denver wins 34-31.

  9. it’s going to be 20 degrees warmer than what manning has been practicing in.
the weather wont have much impact on the game (so stop wishing it will Seattle fans).
this is going to be a simple game… If the Broncos don’t cough up the ball more than once….they win !
Broncos offense is too strong for Seattle.

If Manning gets happy feet or the RB’s get sloppy Seattle has a good chance to capitalize.

But, the Broncos should win based on ability to score points. (that’s period)

  10. 12thmangohawks is delusional.. All you Seahawks fans think your team is invincible.
Short memories I suppose.. Remember a team fro Arizona? 192 total yards ain’t gonna cut it against Manning, Moreno, D. Thomas, J. Thomas, Decker, Welker, Tamme, Ball, Caldwell, Holliday…
Sherman may be good but he can’t cover everybody..
