This is Pete Carroll’s first Super Bowl as a head coach.
And yes, the Seahawks’ coach has reached out for advice and counsel as Seattle prepares for Super Bowl XLVIII.
However, Carroll won’t say with whom he’s huddled.
“I’m not going to tell you. I’m not going to tell you who I leaned on,” Carroll said with a smile at his Sunday press conference at the club’s hotel in Jersey City, New Jersey. “But I did. I had some very important phone calls and conversations with people who know what this is all about and don’t need to point out who it is.
“It was important for me and learned some good things and got validated on what we’re doing, the system and what we can expect and all that. Hopefully it will all weigh in and help us out.”
It’s the Super Bowl, so everything said is parsed, but it’s understandable why Carroll might not want to offer up any names. Sometimes, conversations are best left private, lest someone not pick up the phone the next time you call.
