Broncos to practice outdoors today, since it’s nice

Considering today might be the balmy one this week, the Broncos are going to go play outside.

According to Sal Paolantonio of ESPN, the Broncos are going to work out outside today, rather than using the Jets indoor facility.

Broncos coach John Fox said last night he’d prefer to work outdoors if possible, since he’s more worried about the impact of running around on a hard artificial turf surface than the temperatures.

It’s going to get colder in greater New York tomorrow, with highs in the teens forecast for Tuesday. So while the Broncos may go inside later, they’re going to take advantage of reasonably mild conditions while they can.

So if it gets colder, they won’t practice outside? How about practicing outside all week until Gameday. You know, get used to the cold.

John Fox makes a good point. I hate that artificial stuff (soccer players would understand my sentiment).

It comes down to the field being frozen. That will dictate whether they practice outside. With tomorrows high being 17, I doubt they’ll practice outside tomorrow.

It’s not any colder in NYC than in Denver for the past week or so. Cold is no big deal, the wind? That’s a different story.

Well the weather for game day is around 0 celcus or mid 30 F for my american friends. Light breezy winds of 9 mph’s 20 % of percipitation. Doesn’t look like it’s going to be cold, windy, or bad weather for the SB which is good news for the Broncos. Perfect football weather actually. Good to see that the SB shouldn’t be decided by the elements.

This is the same stuff Seattle plays on 8 times a year at Century Link Field.
    From Global Syn-Turf:
“With its polyurethane and polyethylene composition, its materials are specially engineered to withstand colder temperature areas, whether it is windy and cool, or frigid and icy. The modern infill systems of artificial grass today also aid in cold weather. Infill makes the artificial turf slower to freeze in extreme cold conditions.”

    Advantage Seahawks

The Giants game field is grass. Same as Denver! how is that an advantage to the Seahawks? because the practice field is synthetic? hmmmm

The fact that weather is even being considered shows that it was foolish to hold the game in anywhere other than a city with warmer climate.

Please let there be a massive snow/ice storm! Just stick it to Goodell for his greedy and ill-advised decision to put the Super Bowl in NJ.

MetLife Field is NOT grass. It is a type of Field Turf.
